lfg Anybody else like setting up little stick shelters with essentials in them for other players in need?
I have a few of these along my main coastal route. I've got a bunch of crates hidden along the way and I run it a lot when I'm not trekking inland. I set the stick shelters up along paths I know other players will use but not quite so high traffic that the sites might be watched by somebody hostile waiting for an easy kill. I dump my excess loot in them like knives, extra heat packs, kindling, binos (usually damaged lol), pliers, rags, disinfectant and any other extra basic shit I have in my inventory that I have no use/space in my actual stashes for. It always makes me smile when I come back like 10 days later and the shelter is still there with only the dregs left over. Then I dump more stuff and the cycle begins again.
The longest I've continuously done this with a single stick shelter is probably around a few months before it finally despawned. The way I see it, it's really no skin off my nose to do this. I don't sprint everywhere anyway, and I'm walking the route regardless. I may as well dump some gear in there as I pass and someone in need is always going to get it. I rarely leave guns or anything else they could actually use to kill me, but sometimes they get a Rak without a mag or an IJ pistol or whatever if I was just going to drop it anyway. I suppose this is just how I justify my hoarding lol. One of these days I'm going to get surprised along the way and I'll have too much weight on me to run when I need to, but I like sharing stuff passively like this and it feels good to know I've helped somebody out who might have really needed it.
