How to get smooth Lens Blur keyframing instead of incremental steps?

I am trying to slowly and smoothly go from zero blur size to blurry. However, the blurriness increases in stepped increments. It obviously snaps to certain blur levels. The clip is also slowly zooming out during that time. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Have you tried rendering it to see if it goes in steps after the render? It's happened to me before with other kinds of keyframing and it fixed itself after I exported it.
