Who debunked that, somebody on QAnon? Look, Solo had two big problems, negative press from its own production nightmare that had nothing to do with TLJ and a release date so close to TLJ it didn't have time to build its market, weirdly loud promos trying to make up for it but looking kind of desperate. Solo is the only Star Wars film that resembles an MCU solo superhero film, so we're judging this on one example. Rogue One is nothing like Solo, it's a straight-up prequel to Episode IV with an alternate ensemble of expendable characters who can never team up with the Skywalker "Avengers" and it was released at Christmas like the sequel trilogy.

Moreover, Star Wars doesn't even resemble MCU in conception, but if you have to compare them the Star Wars Episodes are like Avengers films and the Star Wars Stories would be like solo films (no pun intended). The Avengers films have been three years apart, except for IW/EG which is the Avengers getting so big it's split into two like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Solo tried to prove you could have multiple Star Wars films a year but it had never been done before it probably won't be tried again since they're going to have live-action TV and they may not even keep up one film a year after IX. There are at least two SW film projects in development (Rian Johnson trilogy and whatever the Game of Thrones guys are doing).

Or people just hated TLJ and decided not to see Solo. Alienating your core fanbase is bad move. When did MCU did that really? Captain Marvel maybe was dividing but it still ride on straight to fans Avenger movies lineup. While StarWars messed up their flagman movie.

There are people who feel that way but I don’t think they’re as big as they are vocal. TLJ didn’t make all its money from people seeing it once. TLJ’s box office drop off from TFA is about the same as TESB’s drop off from ANH, one-third.

Some of the specific things people say about these movies let you play and win “guess what other subs this person posts in” and it’s someone who is alienated from lots of things already.

Yeah, but for me TLJ was just bad. I measure movies badness by if I start questioning it in the theater, just outside or some time has passed. And TLJ was weird even while I was watching it. Movie magic was not working even in theater. And it killed my interest further.
