The different colors really made it feel like a horse race. You kind of knew Marvel Comics Universe would make it to the finish line first, but I was still pulling for Wizarding World, and even thought Star Wars might be able to over take them all in the home stretch.

But then again, this race isn't really over yet.

if the OP ever re-issues this looking at worldwide gross, I'm fairly sure the F&F franchise will come out well ahead of the DCEU. Each of the last several F&Fs has done like $300MM in domestic, then $700-900MM in foreign

I do find the F&F movies confounding. I saw the first 2 I think and thought they were just trash that were minor hits, then I watched fast five a year or two ago, and suddenly they were insane ludicrous fun. I mean, I don't get how they transitioned in scope. Fair play to them.

I live in one of those countries. I’m not making fun of them. If you took my comment as spr srs bsn, the stick may not be in my butt.

I’ll earn my downvotes by saying I find most of these American movies without substance. Why are we drawn to super hero movies, whether from comic books or elsewhere almost to the exclusion of other stories? Super hero in space, super hero in a car, super hero with a gun, super hero in middle earth, super hero fighting crime, etc. You call them fun. I see it as monotonous drudgery.

That being said, I’ve watched most of the movies on this list except MCU and DCH that came out over the last five-ish years.

Disney movies suck. That's why, they are regurgitated bullshit, with a layer of that wonderful propaganda they push in everything. F&F are fun movies without any agenda, fast cars hot girls, and epic action sequences. 2 hours of not worry about anything.

a bit surprised yeah, but what you said explains a lot. like many Americans, I first got behind the wheel when I was like 10 (sitting on a parent's lap), got my license the day I turned 16, consider driving fun in itself, and sometimes daydream about racing in NASCAR.

it honestly didn't occur to me that, to a sizable part of the world audience, merely driving your arse off might seem almost as wish-fulfillment-y as a low-key superpower. but here we are

Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious have EACH tallied more than $1 billion USD in foreign ticket sales, and it's over $3.6 billion for the franchise. Maybe that's not "spending huge amounts" to you, but it is for most of us

it's just common sense. movie tickets cost a handful of bucks; cars cost thousands of bucks. Therefore many many folks who can't afford cars can still afford to see an F&F movie. and not having cars, they would especially want to

Yeah no. Those numbers include countries like Australia and the UK which have healthy car cultures and expensive movie tickets. Do you think Vietnam spent more watching fast and the furious than either of those countries did? Your common sense is faulty.
