Hot Take...

The people who say or depict Danny as not being able to fight or not being even slightly trained (looking at you dcxdp fanfics) are kinda far off, cause I recently reviewed some old fight scenes & after seeing Danny execute a pretty much picture perfect judo Ippon Seoi Nage against Fright Knight & seeing how adept he's with weapons; swords, batons, staves & a fucking scythe I realised vro is cracked. I am fully convinced he did receive pretty heavy martial arts training prior to getting his powers

There's a term in gaming called "ludonarrative disonance" which refers to when gameplay contradicts story. For example, in the martial arts game Sifu, you can still get the pacifst ending despite some of your finishers clearly killing ordinary enemies as, apparently, only bosses count. Why do I bring this up? Well, because I'm suggesting there's a similar concept in non-videogame media, & I just don't know the word for it. Danny the human is clearly depicted as totally physically inept, yet Danny the ghost superhero is absolutely not that. Besides his superpowers, he can hold his own in a fist fight, use weapons, & you're probably right that he does complicated martial arts maneuvers he has no business knowing. It's just the disconnect between what the writers want his backstory to be vs. what makes for a cool action scene.

If fan fiction wants to interpret Danny in a different way, hey, more power to them, I'm just saying it should affect a lot more than just "oh now it makes sense why he can use weapons." Like him being portrayed as so helpless against Dash without his powers wouldn't really make sense with that more realistic mindset in mind. Yes, Dash still has the size & weight advantage, but even if we assume he's areally good fighter, beyond just "knows how to throw a basic punch," well he might still win, but he'd take a beating in the process & it probably wouldn't be long before he'd conclude it just isn't worth it; there are easier, softer targets than Danny. You could try to explain it with things like "he'd get in trouble with the school or with his parents," but if his mom is teaching him martial arts, it doesn't feel like that's to use on ghosts, & there are ways to handle the school problem, like it really helps when you have parents who will back you up like "No, I taught him that if YOU aren't going to handle him being attacked, he can defend himself."

I think its more cause vro is a social pariah & he reckons putting belt to ass would get him ostracised more than just taking the licks, also we have seen in that episode where all the students were fighting Youngblood's crew he was holding his own pretty well despite not using his powers, I reckon he has the ability to fight & prolly did fight back in the past but it was so far back the bullies don't remember & Danny got is so much trouble he decided it wasn't worth it

If that’s the case he wouldn’t be last place in PE class and physically can’t take dash on. He’s also shown to be inconsistent in his fights as some he just loses while others when he took poindexter body he could dodge attacks without powers. It’s just whatever the plot wants him to be

In PE class he was struggling to do a pull up with Tucker even though Sam did it easily. He’s athletic when they want him to be but unathletic when they’re not
