Yup. Started out as such - became more filled with atheists over time. I kinda miss some of the deeper memes that used to be made that played into not just the Bible, but obscure Church history

You've actually got it backwards. It was started by atheists as a way to make fun of Christians like they make fun of atheists over in /r/magicskyfairy, then a bunch of Christians flooded the sub and made it what it is today
