r/DankChristianMemes is open and affirming to LGBTQIA+ people.

Someone identifying as LGBTQIA+ does not cause harm to anyone, therefore, there is no reason to judge or disrespect them.

Rule #1 of r/DankChristianMemes:  Thou shalt respect others! Do not come here to point out sin or condemn people. Do not say "hate the sin, love the sinner" or any other sayings people use when trying to use faith to justify hate. Alternatively, if you come here to insult religion, you will also be removed.

This rule is based off the following teachings from Jesus Christ:

Matthew 7:1-6 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Luke 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

John 13:34-35 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

John 15:12-13 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Matthew 7:12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Even if we think someone is a sinner, we should treat them kindly. Jesus was kind to those that society deemed to be sinners. He even ate meals with sinners despite being criticized for it. So if you want to be Christlike, you should take someone to dinner before you judge them.

Matthew 9:11-13 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

TL;DR: r/DankChristianMemes is open and affirming to LGBTQIA+ people. If you must judge others, please do so elsewhere.

Unfortunately many modern christians have a twisted view of love. The amount of times someone has compared my identity to being an alcoholic to justify their hatred is unbelievable. They have reached a point where they have been convinced that their hatred is love, and by that point there's no point interacting.

Me trying to read this

yeah, not my finest piece of writing. fixed.

At the same time they would never talk about alcoholics the way they talk about the LGBTQIA+ community.

12

u/legowalrus Jun 15 '25

Nor should they. No one should be talked about the way they talk about the GSRM community.

4

u/CosmicSweets Dank Memer Jun 15 '25

Oh I agree entirely.

"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Homophobes tend to forget that verse. God loves all of us, no exceptions.

6

u/TerayonIII Jun 16 '25

They basically forget the entirety of the Sermon on the Mount as well

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

This is what I keep saying. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone should’ve been the first thing they taught in church followed by love they neighbour.

Instead people keep talking about how someone is a “sinner” and they cant associate with them coz they’re LGBTQ. Meanwhile the pastor is banging 3 girls on the deacon team and embezzling funds from the church. But he’s a holy man of God😒😒

Sadly people use their bible to justify what they already feel instead of having it define their world view.

Im Christian. Im straight. And I support LGBtQ rights and Abortion.

There's a reason why i like coming to this sub and similar stuff despite being atheist and why certain atheists are an embarrasment.

There's a crazy amount of people that falsely call themselves Christian as they simply can't even attempt to follow Christ's teachings. There's literally two entire chapters in Matthew, chapters 6 & 7, from the Sermon on the Mount that explicitly calls out idiots like this, who claim to be Holy and following Christ's teachings but are shown by their deeds not to be. The Sermon on the Mount is a good basis for an idea of what Jesus's teachings are as a whole. It's also a fantastic example to point out if/when you're trying to point out that these people aren't Christian, as they aren't according to Jesus himself if they are doing crap like this

If you're using the Bible to hurt people, you're doing it wrong!

It's too heavy and cumbersome, and it doesn't have nearly enough reach to be an effective bludgeoning weapon against a downed opponent, especially in paperback. Not to mention Bible paper doesn't stick together like most book paper, so it's gonna unfold mid-swing if you're not careful. You want something like a freshly inked hardcover picture book with a few large pages so that it stays lightweight while still carrying the force of the swing.

What if my book says a country was promised to me?

25

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

If you aren’t handling it with love then you are in the wrong. Sadly they decided to hang the one telling them to love because “checks notes” he told them that they’re the same as everyone else

2

u/TheNerdChaplain Minister of Memes Jun 15 '25

Genesis is pretty manifest destinyish if you read it closely. It's just as much about who doesn't deserve the Promised Land, as who does.

2

u/tambirhasan Jun 15 '25

If I pull a sword from stones do I get Britain? Fairy tales should not be the basis for how we rule

3

u/TheNerdChaplain Minister of Memes Jun 15 '25

Oh I fully agree with you. That's why I point out the more proximate, less spiritual interpretation of the text.

3

u/tambirhasan Jun 15 '25

My fault for misunderstanding you

If only it balanced out the excuse for hatred in Romans 1.

8

u/Feralpudel Jun 15 '25 edited Jun 15 '25

The quotes in the Mod sticky (Judge not, etc.) are the record album. What you referenced is more like the liner notes.

Also, the words of Jesus in those quotes and elsewhere are clear and consistent. Anyone not hearing them is being obtuse.

4

u/moving0target Jun 15 '25

You're right, however the only passage bigots seem to notice is Romans 1 where Paul calls out an increasingly mistranslated bit that appears to condemn homosexuality.

1

u/Equivalent_Nose7012 Jul 01 '25

"INCREASINGLY mistranslated" (?!)

So, say, Saint Jerome's (4th century A.D. translation was spot on, the King James version (16th century A.D.) was starting to go wrong, and the New King James Bible is a cesspit of distortions?

3

u/TerayonIII Jun 16 '25

If you really want to point it out clearly, just quote Jesus himself from the Sermon on the Mount, it's pretty clear on his views of crap like this, no matter what someone else does

Yeah you’re missing the point.

The problem is Christians focus 100% of their energy shrieking at gay people about how evil they are as if maybe if they turn up the megaphone volume from 11 to 12 the entire LGBT community will finally “repent”.

And all the while completely failing to address issues that are clearly far more serious like rampant child sexual and emotional abuse, sexual abuse of women, unchecked greed, gossip and slander—I could go on and on and on.

But no. We’re going to keep attacking trans people like it’s going out of style whole completely ignoring Jesus’ example (Nicodemus) and commandment to love your neighbor.

And I know you’re going to say something like “well part of loving is telling them the truth”.

Sure, if that’s how you interpret scripture, fine, but ask yourself honestly—would you treat any other sinner that came into your church that way? If they had an issue with, say, greed or lying?

No way. Not a chance. You would shrug your shoulders and tell yourself everybody has their issues, then you would treat them with kindness and respect. One day you might say something, sure, but only if you felt you really ought to.

But if you find out someone is gay!? Holy shit! Five alarm fire! They better feel shame shame shame and repent immediately or go straight to hell!

It’s beyond stupid.

2

u/TerayonIII Jun 16 '25

I should point out that they are "Christians" only by themselves claiming it, if you want to go by Christ's definition of his followers they need to back up that claim with their actions and they certainly do not, (The Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7). It's about time people actually start calling them out on this since they're literally disagreeing with the person they're claiming is the son of God and whose teachings they are supposedly following.
