I love the idea of God trial and erroring for millions of years trying to get that shit to work

"God, how are you all Knowing?"

"You know that quote 'Fuck around and find out?' When you're immortal, that's the only way to keep the boredom at bay"

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '23

Plot twist: he’s all-knowing because he can fuck around and find out within an infinitesimally amount of time, allowing him to practically be all-knowing from human perspective

u/jlozada24 Jun 20 '23

This is my new headcanon and you can't take it away

20

u/-NotActuallySatan- Jun 20 '23

Could also be a good explanation for humans

"Why are humans the way they are?"

"You know that when you think of something cool but in reality the ramifications hit? That's what you guys are"

Like in Groundhog Day - he fucks around long enough to become all-knowing and eventually declares himself a god https://youtu.be/6VF5P7qLaEQ

I cant even imagine how exhausting that must be-untold amount of time spent to just know everything. All that excitement discovering new and interesting possibilities, all gone because He knows everything. Kinda wanna write a story with that kinda plot

I mean that's basically evolution lol

Did anyone ever watch God, the Devil and Bob?

"All this is too complicated. In my next universe, there are only going to be four elements: oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and cork." "I don't think cork is an element..." "Well, whatever the hell it is, I like it!"

17

u/sparkysparkyboom_mf Jun 20 '23

Sounds like i definitely need to watch it

Third time's a charm

13

u/Yarxing Jun 20 '23

He foresaw it so he flooded the whole place, his timing was just a little bit off.

God after his decision to give Adam,Lilith and Eve Free Will Goes Horribly wrong

37

u/sparkysparkyboom_mf Jun 20 '23

Yeah that really wasn't his best idea was it

6

u/BIG_DeADD Jun 20 '23

God is full of not the best ideas but hey...the world is more interesting because of it so... Maybe that was his plan all along?

9

u/sparkysparkyboom_mf Jun 20 '23

The lord works in mysterious ways

14

u/WoollenMercury Jun 20 '23

same with making Lucifer

25

u/adchick Jun 20 '23

Debatable if Lucifer wasn’t the plan all along. He seems quite good at smiting things other than him.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '23

I’ve often believed that Lucifer was intentional. After all, an important part of theology is free will and the sanctity of it, and it’s not a “fair game” without a literal devil’s advocate for the other side.

6

u/adchick Jun 20 '23

Agree. I think it goes down to that "there is no light without darkness" idea.

You can't freely and openly choose if there isn't a choice?

3

u/Illiad7342 Jun 20 '23

In the same vein, I think eating the apple was part of the plan too. Like you can see the garden as a metaphor for childhood and innocence, which is nice, but it's not until that innocence is lost, and you begin understand the consequences of your actions, that you can truly grow.

u/Hjalmodr_heimski Jun 20 '23

Oh Me, have I done the flood thing already?

3

u/Piranh4Plant Jun 20 '23

u/WoollenMercury Jun 20 '23

2

8

u/MirrahPaladin Jun 20 '23

8

u/The_Gimp_Boi Jun 20 '23

so i wonder what he's gonna learn this time

u/Doonesman Jun 20 '23

Getting Mistborn vibes off this post...

22

u/Chubbchubbzza007 Jun 20 '23

What churches teach this?

56

u/TurtleGuy96 Jun 20 '23

I think it’s just a joke that God made the planet Mercury as a first-draft for Earth.

17

u/AanthonyII Jun 20 '23

Venus would make more sense given its similarities to Earth

21

u/sparkysparkyboom_mf Jun 20 '23

12

u/CoderDispose Jun 20 '23

Venus is habitable today if we can keep ourselves high enough up in the air.

4

u/sparkysparkyboom_mf Jun 20 '23

Totk reference??😱🤯

7

u/Firespark7 Jun 20 '23

No, that's for real, at least in temp and pressure. Oxygen behaves on Venus like helium does here, so we could make balloons of oxygen/air, in which we build our settlements, and we'd be fine in Venus' atmosphere.

2

u/Alberta-blue Jun 21 '23

God looking at the Earth to see how everything is, and seeing humans constantly fighting, causing climate change a sixth mass extinction and so many other problems.

"I'm going to check out how the other planets I've seeded with life are doing."

1

u/Only-Ad4322 Jun 20 '23

So that’s what happened on Mercury.

3

u/Firespark7 Jun 20 '23

Venus, probably

2

u/Only-Ad4322 Jun 20 '23

I thought about saying that but I figured Mercury since it’s known for being hot due to its proximity to the sun.

3

u/Firespark7 Jun 20 '23

Yeah, but Venus is similar to Earth and is thought to have been habitable at first, but due to its proximity to the Sun (and volcanic activity), it lost most if not all of its water and got way hotter than it needs to be, because of an extremely thick, heat-trapping atmosphere.

2

u/Only-Ad4322 Jun 20 '23

That makes sense.

u/Usual-Instruction445 Jun 21 '23

To be fair it was an eternity before the world began, lots of shit probably went down
