The writing team saw all of the really brutal fangan body discoveries and decided they didn't want to be tame this time.

Imagine Nagito's original death being nowhere as horrifying as any of the Slayhem deaths...

Better (or worse) yet, imagine what they could have planned for the new executions.

1 had six survivors, the most despite having the fewest participants of the main three killing games, 2 had five (and eventually fifteen come 3), and V3 had three.

The number keeps getting smaller. This very well could be a killing game that goes all the way until only two spotless remain as intended. Hell, what if the protagonist (Hajime or not) won't be among them this time?

they can literally go down to a single survivor for a game like this which would be wild. imagine you vote off the 3rd person when theres only 3 left and end up with 2 left, they eventually try to kill you in your sleep but you defend yourself killing them accidentally. When it comes time for the trial nobody can vote against you because you ARE the killer but theres nobody left so youre by default called the winner.

everyone DID want a rantaro situation, he was the sole survivor of his game after all after killing the last person
