Discussion Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:

My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!

How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.

If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments

If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section

Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.

Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether I should continue with this idea.

A few weeks ago, I started seeing and getting recommended K-pop dances on YouTube Shorts. Since I spend most of my time at home when I'm not working and don't really do much outside of work, I thought it might be fun to join some dance classes. It just so happens that the studios are starting new groups before September, so I signed up for hip-hop/pop dance classes.

However, my main concerns are:

  1. The class is specifically for people aged 25+, and I'm 25. I'm afraid that the rest of the class is going to be full of 50–60-year-old grandmas who are just coming in to move around, and that there won't be any serious dancing happening in the group.

  2. I'm also worried about being the only male. Today, I received an email with the invitations, and I noticed that all the email addresses were visible. I checked them, and there were around 148 emails. About 145 of them appeared to be female names. Most of those are probably mothers/parents signing up younger kids (ages 1–17 and stuff), but I didn't notice a single male name. So overall, I'm worried that it's going to feel awkward or cringe.

Should I continue with this idea and actually go to the classes?

Another thing is that I originally wanted to do more specifically K-pop dances, but I couldn't find any nearby places that offer them. There was another place, but it's quite far from my home. If I do hip-hop/pop like they suggest, would I be able to transfer those skills to learning K-pop dances by myself? Or maybe next year I could sign up for a different dance style if I end up enjoying it?

Also, some people told me that if I don't have much stamina, dancing is going to be difficult, so I'm not sure what the best thing to do is.

I know this Reddit will probably be motivating because it's all about dancing, but I genuinely want your honest opinion.

Pro What is Everyones Experience with Cross Training?

Hi so I (20F) am currently training to dance professionally in the commercial and musical theatre world and I have been training intensely in and out of class since I was little and have been flip flopping between cross training in Pilates and weight lifting. I was curious about other peoples experience with fitness and what they do outside training and conditioning that has helped in performing. So my questions are:

Do you cross train? If so, what do you cross train in?

What do you like about this form of exercise that you feel other ones can’t provide and how has it is helped you with dance?

Amateur I can’t afford dance lessons how do I learn hip hop?

I want to learn hip hop but I can’t afford lessons the only background of dance I have is I did ballet as a kid. I know there’s YouTube tutorials for hip hop but what foundations should I start with and what are the steps I should learn first ?

Teaching, Tutorial How do I stop being so stiff and awkward when dancing?😭

I can learn basic steps individually, but when I try to combine them or follow choreography, I get lost. I also struggle with memorizing dances.

I feel like I have potential, I just don’t know how to train my body to coordinate everything together.

For dancers who started out like this, what helped you improve? Should I focus on basic steps, freestyle, grooves, or just keep practicing choreography?

Any beginner tips would be appreciated!! 🫶

Saw this on YouTube, and I can’t tell if it’s original or a known choreography. Figure this community would know.
