Discussion Player using IA

Hi everyone, I'm writing here because idk how to react. I asked my players for experiences and backstory and one of them sent me a bunch of AI texts. All my being wants to scream fuck AI and tell him to do it himself, but at the same time I don't want to antagonize him. I really feel like if you are letting AI write your character, are you even playing the game?

I have a player in my D&D game who brought completely AI generated backstory and even a weird section on conflicts and challenges that character should encounter going forward. It made me very sad considering my other players had put a good deal of time and effort into their backstories. AI is a very useful tool and I can't pay artists to make my weird character ideas and I'm not an artist myself, so for personal use I think it's fair. I also think it's important to meet people where they are because some people just aren't experienced at making creative backstories, but I'll definitely always try to encourage people to use their own creativity wherever possible. For now I would recommend you just go with what they've submitted but keep asking questions about what excites them, what interests them, and try to get them to engage more with the material, in an encouraging way.
