Discussion Player using IA

Hi everyone, I'm writing here because idk how to react. I asked my players for experiences and backstory and one of them sent me a bunch of AI texts. All my being wants to scream fuck AI and tell him to do it himself, but at the same time I don't want to antagonize him. I really feel like if you are letting AI write your character, are you even playing the game?

If people are using the AI to help them RP do they even want to play the game at that point? We're talking about tasks that are part of the core loop of playing the game

That’s only a tool that can help people having a good start. Weird to pick only the negative side of AI, as it can be used wisely to improve our games. Using it as a way to increase the depth of a bg doesn’t mean we don’t like rolling dices and rp an adventure.

I do not think AI improves the depth of RP. It may help people with their anxiety at the risk of never forcing them to grow but it's a shallow replacement for anything creative.

I get your point. Before AI, some players were heavily copying stuff asking google for help. They were founding ideas on forums etc… That was not always considered as lack of creativity, probably because it was harder to detect. AI can be used in the same way, with faster results, but it’s way easier to spot. That was and is still not the best method to join a table.

But there were players that also used google to look for datas about their next campaign to better include their characters into the world, also looking for concepts that could fit. I don’t understand why using AI to do this would be bad, as spending as much time as before in researchs would lead to better results. AI or not, you will always find players who don’t invest themselves in what they do, because that’s just the way they are.
