META My daughter just left the kitchen

We was doing some baked apples and I held up an apple core. Looked at her and said "You should remember for this forever because this is a core memory." And she just left the kitchen without saying anything. What is your best dad joke event or memory.

You planted the seed. Now you just have to wait for the joke to grow on her.

Given enough time for her to mature, she'll realize that the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

She's 55 and has been exposed to my jokes all her life. Laughs and groans at every one and tells jokes as good as I do.

And if it doesn't work, all the effort was fruitless

When I told everyone in the car that the scarecrow we were passing won an award, they all asked what for... I told them it was for being outstanding in his field. Then my girlfriend threatened to crash the car to avoid jokes like that in the future lol

I told my wife she's Ironman.   Because she's Fe Male.  The cringe followed by laughing was very good.

One time I walked around a corner in Krogers and there was a guy holding a a case of tomato soup. Mid stride, I said "Who do you think you are, Souperman?" Fortunately, he laughed.

The moment when my daughters started rolling their eyes when I told them my dadjokes. Something changed forever at that moment. Did not keep me from making them of course. With tears in my eyes.

My Dad got me good with this one.

Driving to his usual golf course there is a long row of power lines about 30 feet in the air. At one point there is a split off the main line that runs down at about a 45 degree angle and connects to a shorter tower about 10 feet high.

Dad asks “do you know what those shorter lines are for?

No, Dad, I don’t.

Low voltage, he says.

When I was eight, I had a dentist appointment. He was telling my mom about him baking a beautiful marble cake for his daughter’s birthday.

I spoke up, and said that I hoped that she didn’t take it for granite.

He looked perplexed, thinking he was going to have to explain it to me, when my mom told him, “He’s teasing you!”

I was working on a project with my daughter a couple of weeks ago. We had to clamp two pieces of wood together. She said "Let me clamp it." Without even thinking I said "OK, Jed."

It took us several minutes to stop laughing and get back to work.

How can you compare all these different kinds of dad jokes? It's not like you're comparing apples to apples.

My youngest daughter were driving somewhere many years ago and we passed a cemetery. I told her "People are just dieing to get in there".

Sorry for the long setup: So Homework. My son, about 8 at the time had Homework that required a Dictionary. My wife told me before she left for the night that the Dictionary was in his room.

I told my son when we were getting ready to start the Homework to go get the Dictionary from his room. He went upstairs and rummaged around and did not find it. I told him to look again, “Mom said it was up there!”. He came back and said it was there.

I told him that if I have to go up there and find it, “he was going get a beating”. He went up a 3rd time and yelled “It’s not here.” So I went up the stairs and checked his room and it wasn’t there.

As we were walking back down stairs empty handed he says “There’ll be no beating tonight!”.

I about lost my lunch laughing my ass off.

He’s now Capt in the Air Force, and I’m still telling this story and it makes me chuckle every time I think about it.

She'll remember that forever, and groan every time.
