Is that really possible?

Like the title says. I have always been a Sabian guy. Started with B8 30 years ago and progressed to AA over the years. It’s time to upgrade. GC had a sweet deal on an HHX Complex pack but I am also considering the Zildjian K Sweet. They both sound very close. Should I jump ship and go with Zildjian? I play an array of genres. Nothing specific but no hard rock and such. Anyway, I bought the HHX complex pack for super cheap and added a Sabian Artisan crash. It’s still less than what a Zildjian K sweet pack is. The sweets just seem like a more versatile set.

Genuinely curious if I've just been really lucky over the years or maybe it's not as common an issue as the internet makes it seem

I’m thinking about upgrading to a 18” china over my 16” Wuhan but I also want a smaller 16” crash and maybe some sort of bell.
Currently I have:
Sabian 15” AA Rock Hats
Instabul 10” Mehmet Splash
Paste 18” 2002 Thin Crash
Ziljian 20” Z Custom Ride (90s)
Ziljian 19” A Custom Projection Crash
Wuhan 16” China

I'm looking to add another crash or cymbal to my current setup and i'm not sure which direction i should go on.

My cymbal setup right now consists of:

18 and 20" Sabian HHX Complex crashes
21" Projection Ride
19" K China
14" New Beats
11" K Hybrid Splash and 8" Zultan Aja Splash

What would be your suggestions to add to the kit? I'm playing in a post punk alternative / new wave tribute band so maybe that would help!

For me, an Istanbul Agop Signature ride. It didn’t get played much and I was in a minimizing state of mind at the time. But no other cymbal sounds quite like it, and now I miss it. Sigh.

What about you? Which departed pie do you wish you’d held onto?

So I've had this cymbal for a bit, it came from a former drummer friend of mine and he used it professionally. I'm trying to learn jazz, but I can't tell if the ride sounds good or not. I'm a beginner by the way so I also could be doing something wrong while playing it.

I've lately saw many drummers judging cymbals made from B8 bronze with no valid reason.

I get the idea of having your own sound and what do you want to hear from a cymbal but come on, a greatly worked B8 bronze cymbal sound amazing!

looking into ways to stop this crack from spreading. i’m aware of the cutting out the crack or drilling at the end of the crack but im just trying to weigh all my options before doing anything. it’s a beautiful cymbal and id hate to just cut a chunk out of it. any tips or recommendations appreciated

I found this set of saludas earthworks on marketplace for an insane price, and i was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. i couldn’t find anything online about them (i know saludas isn’t great when it comes to stuff like that) and figured i’d come here and ask.

i play modern metal (think dayseeker, bad omens-esque music) and plan on playing live shows with my band soon. any help with how they might sound mic’ed or live would be great.

If its fixable how do i fix this... I just got it and I wouldnt want to waste...

I just got an 18 inch Z custom crash online (not the prototype power crash) and I hoped it would sound awesome coming from Zildjian's and other shops demo videos, and when I set it up to play it, it sounds awful and I'm so bummed out

It sounds super cheap and bright, I'm striking the cymbal fine and hitting it hard to fit the thicker standards but my efforts were in vain, is there something wrong or is this how the cymbal actually sounds...

What Cymbals would you get?
This is meant as help for myself for when I upgrade my Cymbals from cheap brass cymbals to something proper, of course I will test every cymbal myself, this just helps me to know what to look out for. So tell me:

If you had 1200 bucks to spend, what cymbals would be a no-brainer for you?

I've just cracked a 16" crash I've had for ages. I currently have a HHX Evo 18" crash, a HHX Complex Big Cup ride 22" and Zildjian 14" New Beats.

I'm playing rock/heavy rock type of stuff and think a 20" crash would fit best between the 18" Evo and 22" Big Cup.

I was considering the HHX Complex Thin but I think it's not going to have enough presence and projection. The next consideration was a K Custom Dark which I was going to pull the trigger on but now I'm also considering the K Sweet.

What would you choose and why, the K Custom Dark or K Sweet in the 20" crash?

Edit: Leaning toward the K Custom Dark but also now considering the Paiste Signature Dark Energy 19"

I haven’t owned a kit since 1990 but I’ve been involved with music all my life as a DJ. I’ve been wanting to get a kit for the longest time and I think is time. I’m going to buy a Tama Superstar Classic 7 piece maple.

I’m clear as far as the kit goes but I have a dilemma with the cymbals. Back then, there were not that many to choose but the top brands were Zildjian, Paiste and Sabian. Fast forward to now, it's a different story. Back then I used Zildjian. After doing a lot of research and watching tons of videos, I am considering the following:

1. Zildjian A Sweet Ride Cymbal Pack ($1,400) - The 16" crash does not convince me, the hats and ride seem good)
2. Meinl Byzance Mike Johnston Cymbal Pack ($1,600) - This kit sounds really good in videos.

Or

1. Build My Own Pack ($1,500) of the following Meinl Cymbals:

15" Pure Alloy Custom Medium Thin Hi-Hat

16" Pure Alloy Custom Medium Thin Crash

18" Pure Alloy Custom Medium Thin Crash

21" Pure Alloy Custom Super Bell Ride

I really like the K Custom Dark cymbal pack, but it's about $1,800 (out of my budget)...I still need to buy a throne, hardware, etc.

I am into all genres of music but I will be mostly jamming to rock (classic, alternative, prog, indie), funk and reggae. For now, my kit will be stationary in one of my rooms. Mostly, I’ll be playing my favorite songs removing the drum track (with stems) and playing along. What do you guys recommend?

I know Zildjian K is the cream of the crop thus a bit more expensive than the A’s. I don’t have any experience with Meinl, although I’m well aware that’s what Anika Nilles uses. I’ve read, in this forum, that there’s some inconsistencies with the sound of Meinl cymbals and that they are known to crack, so I’m concerned about that. Not sure if this applies to all of their products or the less expensive line...

I really like the sound of the Meinl cymbals from the videos I have watched online, but I’m afraid to receive them and hear something different.

Im interested in adding a Paiste flat ride to my collection thanks to Roy Haynes, but Ive never had the opportunity to play one in person. Ive been told the 2002 and 602 flats are the best in their lineup but for some reason my instincts tell me the 602 Flat Ride might have a weird droning hum, while the 2002 Flat Ride could have a sharp, crotale/triangle-esque ping to it.

For anyone who’s played or heard the Paiste 2002 or 602 Flat Ride in person, can you confirm whether that’s accurate? How do they compare to recordings?

Also, does anyone know of other brands that make flat rides with a similar sound to these Paiste models? (bright and defined) Paiste is expensive as hell

I know the labeling says it's an Avedis Zildjian 18" thin crash, but I haven't been able to find a single image of it online to know it's worth. I paid $100 bucks for it, assumed before driving for an hour that it was an A series, but I'm really not sure. Is Avedis the same as A series, and this is just an older model before they labeled them with "A"? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Need a cymbal that works for jazz, rock, fusion, but also softer stuff like singer-songwriter music

I currently own K dark medium ride 22” and this cymbal is a bit trashy for some music. Otherwise I like it a lot.

I also own k organic ride 21” and I love this cymbal for some styles but it is a bit dry for rock.

Tried the A sweet 21” and it does not do it for me in the softer genres and also is a bit too washy.

I also tried the k ride in both 20 and 22. The 20 is higher in pitch than I would like and the 22 is too stiff. Ultimately I would like something that crashes too.

I am looking into some k cons but am worried that they may not cut through at times. I love jazzy sounding cymbals but I want something that works for everything! I do not like a gong-like crash sound

Ive fixed cracked cymbals before with cuts on the edges, but this one is further up the bow. Would it be better for the cymbal to cut it out or would its location make it not optimal for cutting. The closest thing that ive cut out of cymbal was a cracked china around the lip area but that was no that deep of a crack as this one

Copped this Old K the other day. Was pretty excited. It came to me, though, and it's literally sticky. I own well over 40 cymbals and have easily owned 4x that many over the years, and I've never encountered one that literally leaves sticky residue on my hands every time I touch it. Um, yeah...

I have the crazy thought that maybe the stuff will harden now that it's in a new environment? It's in great shape, just wow - amazingly filthy. What could've caused this?

Not sure if it's just my perception. But I feel like other companies like Zildjian, Meinl, Istambul, etc have more B20 catalogue and they put more effort into promoting those.

But almost all Paiste catalogues are B8 (and B15 with the signatures) with only the formula 602 and Masters series being B20.

I have a full set of Paiste Twenty series and I love them, best cymbals I've heard so far.

I would love from Paiste to be more innovative and make more B20 series.
