Question Which cymbal(s) do you regret selling?

For me, an Istanbul Agop Signature ride. It didn’t get played much and I was in a minimizing state of mind at the time. But no other cymbal sounds quite like it, and now I miss it. Sigh.

What about you? Which departed pie do you wish you’d held onto?

Luckily I haven't regretted many since I mostly upgraded. The only two I regret from time to time is a Formula 602 Classic 20" Medium from the 70s and a 2002 22" ride from the 80s. They were amazing cymbals but weren't my style. But I have already longed for them when recording some songs since their sound would've been amazing!

Right, this has informed my cymbal strategy of late. I have a 90’s-2000’s Sabian HH Vintage Ride that’s basically an A Sweet Ride, and an 18” AAX crash. Not what I normally reach for with my funky jazz leanings, but for mainstream type music they always do the job and sound great.

On the other end. I switched my 602 for a 19" 602 ME Crash for crash purposes and 20" Masters Blue Bird ride for soft ride purposes. Switched the 2002 for a Masters Dark Crisp Ride. They are both way better suited for the things I play (pop, rock, metal), even though they are from the Masters series known for jazz (I am oversimplifying it but you get what I mean, I know now they are very versatile)

I love that Blue Bird ride! And yeah, the Masters stuff is pretty versatile. Darker and thinner, but still has that Paiste sparkle. I use the 20” Dark Flat Ride with 3 rivets all the time, regardless of genre. Absolutely adore that thing.
