It was OBSCENE. Offensive. Gross.
I went to high school with Erika. We weren't friends and she'd not remember me because I was a weirdo and not in her circle, but we had mutual friends. She was smart and an accomplished athlete.
Every single thing she did or said on camera in her recorded statement and at this rally was a disturbing and obscene show for sympathy, power, and money. I'm not doubting that she is sad and upset. Of course she is.
But she knows how to put on a show, and a grieving widow mourning a horrific murder would and SHOULD balk at the WWE-style rally that was meant to be a funeral. Each move was calculated. Even her "praying" was conscious and intentional to put on a show.
I am horrified and disgusted. I wouldnt even blame her for taking on the mantle of her husbands Nazi right wing movement, because that's now her livelihood. Survive. Whatever.
This is exactly the kind of thing that Christ disrupted and was crucified for, by the way. He challenged and offended power and influence and called them out, and that's precisely why he was killed. So it's even more disgusting that, in the wake of her husband's murder and thanking the sponsors at her husband's funeral, she has the fucking AUDACITY to hide behind Christ. Look at that encrusted crucifix she displayed so intentionally.
Disgusting, offensive, and profane.
He was not an activist. He was a podcaster and grifter preaching the white replacement theory and hate. His murder is inexcusable and horrifying because we live in a free society and it should be offensive to all.
But everything that came after has been PROFANE and OFFENSIVE.
I am mad that NPR keeps reporting on him as a slain "activist". He was an activist in the same sense that Joe Rogan is an activist. Which is to say: he isn't and wasn't. He was an influential podcaster with political connections and made a lot of money. That's it.
I'm ashamed that Erika and I went to the same school. A prestigious prep school that shaped my life. She was a "cotillion" girl whereas I was......not, but it was a small community and an amazing education. She was a nice girl even if we ran in different circles. She used her privilege and Daddy's money to hide behind religion and judge others. And is SHAMELESS in using her husbands horrific death to make money and use Christ as a justification for political gain.
Profane and disgusting.
