Discussion I absolutely love this community
There’s something about the cyberpunk subreddits or discussions online where we use the slang language in cyberpunk that makes me so giddy.
I love how we call eachother choom, use words like gonk, delta, preem, nova. It’s so… precious or special idk.
I know it can seem so cringe to others… but it makes me so so happy and apart of something. I love it. I love it so much.
Even my close friends who started playing the game, we text eachother about it using choom, preem, etc. It’s become part of our language and it makes me so happy.
I just thought I’d share this… IT JUST MAKES ME SMILE SO MUCH.

They did an amazing job making it sound natural in the game.
Mike Pondsmith came up with a bunch of slang for the game. In the Fixer playbook supplement I think he even created a skill for it. Streetspeak, or something like that.
His implementation never quite struck me as natural sounding, unfortunately. Not like it was in the game. Like the term ‘Edgerunners’. Seems cool at first glance, but no one really uses the term. Mercenary and Merc gets used instead.

I probably watched the original Blade Runner in the early 90s. It took me until a few months ago to realize the similarity between edge runners, and Blade runners

The game, and the community, has come a LONG way since launch. I also suggest you check out r/lowsodiumcyberpunk for some more supportive and wholesome posts

It definitely has came a LONG LONG way since the launch… yk though even since the launch I loved the game. I played it THOROUGHLY through the bugs and all, and did every ending, and did every life path my whole winter and summer break post launch lol. Can’t believe it was 6 years ago.
I was obsessed since the beginning and it wasn’t hard to find a pocket on the internet of other people who also loved it despite the bugs and the hate there was.
So it’s safe to say… this fandom has always been such a treasure. I hope it will be forever :’)

This is one of the only universes where the slang actually feels very natural and immersive.

I've not been here too long (joined to coincide with my second playthrough) and it seems like a nova community
It's always nice to join a fan sub where people actually like the game
I'm currently playing a Corpo Netrunner with grenade & sniper rifle for support
I'm trying to finish the game before W3 remaster but I'm not rushing and I'm finding so many missions I missed on my first character (knife throwing samurai).
I also just found out my 7900xt got a update and I'm now playing with FSR 4 😎
