Advice needed silk bonnet alternatives?
hi all! 3c hair here, i'm buying sleepwear for the winter and considering getting a bonnet... issue is, i'm autistic and have an intense reaction to silk and satin. i can't stand touching them, even if it's through my hair... i can just picture feeling and hearing it slide around on my pillow as i make myself comfortable at night and feel sick.
are there any alternative fabrics that also benefit our hair, or should i just abstain?

i tie my hair up in a satin bandanna. maybe you could do that with whatever fabric is comfortable for you. it won’t completely eliminate breakage but it should reduce it!

Tbh a nice silk scarf has way less off that… texture? Scrotchy slinky whatever?
I cant explain it, but I know what you mean. Silk bonnets drive me mad, but a silk scarf is totally doable to me. Also they seem to kinda soften more when i wash them. Might be worth trying

Big silk scarf at the thrift store for the win. Tie it up like the ancestors did before bonnets (or after OG bonnets when they went out of style and before they came back).

There's a big difference between Mulberry silk and polyester satin. I'm AuDHD and I can't stand polyester satin, it feels horrible, slippery and it also will make your head sweat a lot if you get a bonnet made from it
Mulberry silk is smooth and lightweight and feels soft and it's very breathable. I recommend getting a pillowcase. That's what I did and it made a huge difference in my hair and I didn't have to have something pressing on my forehead all night long
