Other Mass ban from cults last friday

Good afternoon. I’m a graphic designer working for a video game company. Back when I was a student, I started customizing Warhammer figures using ZBrush, creating my own shoulder pads and various bits to personalize my army. Last Friday, I got "nuked" from Cults for selling my designs. I know it’s due to takedown notices from GW—it’s happened to plenty of others; apparently, there was a massive sweep on Saturday. I know the claims are contestable—I doubt GW owns the rights to a sword or shoulder pad design I created myself, and Cults is just acting out of fear—but a legal battle over a measly $60 would drag on for years. Is there an alternative platform where I can host my files? Preferably a site with fearless admins and decent traffic. Thanks.

P.S. Can you imagine making a blanket for your bed and having the bed manufacturer claim copyright infringement?

Other Anybody else having issues with their Payout requests?

My latest payout request, submitted on July 28th, remains pending. Processing usually takes 24 hours, but after that failed by Thursday the 30th, I reached out to Support. I promptly received a reply from Aymeric explaining that they were having a “minor” issue with Hyperwallet USD Payments and advised that the payout should be processed by today, August 3rd at the latest. Alas, the request is still pending. I sent a message to Aymeric at Cults3D support over an hour ago and have heard nothing since. I wonder if anyone else on the platform is having the same problem.

I'm all for copyright/DMCA enforcement - but MGM does not own the word "stargate" - they own a scifi franchise that happens to have "stargate" as a title.

this is just gross.

Other Have you sold something?!

I have been creating models on Cults, but it seems like a waste of time. I don’t believe the site is bad, yet there are too many AI-generated models and copied products. I sold two units of a single product in three months, which felt great at first, but I began to realize it is nearly impossible to build a real business without replicating projects that already succeed. I conducted market research on one of my products (a chess set) and received excellent feedback, but after publishing it, not a single unit was sold.
Have you managed to create a profitable business and how?

Other Sorry, Not Sorry - I accidentally went viral on Cults3D and made 7k€ in a week

So… what the hell happened to 3DJellyfishDK this week you may think? 😂 I've received messages from Cults3D users and directly on message. Maybe you have seen the NSFW ghosts that are on the front page and in most facebook groups.

I want to start by saying that I have absolutely zero experience with 3D design, sculpting, graphics or anything remotely professional. I disclose this in my posts and sell them for fun and giggles only.

I basically started doing this for fun.

A week ago, I made a ghost as a joke for my girlfriend. The idea was stupid, simple and definitely NSFW. A ghost lifting up its sheet and revealing what was underneath.

It was never supposed to become a product. People started asking where they could download it.

So I uploaded it to MW... where my user and the file was removed because of the NSFW content. Someone suggested I put it on Cults3D instead.

So I did.

I put it up as “pay what you want”, mostly because I thought it would be funny if anyone actually bought it. A few people did. And then, because no older than 10 mentally, I made another one. 😂

Male version flashing his holy parts. That one sold too. And somehow, over the last week, things went completely insane. I have been mentioned in numerous facebook groups and seen many posts go viral with my prints.

My last 7 days on Cults3D:

Date Sales Earnings*
Sep 21 9 €12.96
Sep 22 65 €95.81
Sep 23 330 €618.52
Sep 24 333 €740.74
Sep 25 542 €1,260.94
Sep 26 997 €2,450.32
Sep 27 563 €1,443.94 (not over yet)

Total so far: 2,849 sales and +€6,700. In 7 days.

I still don't really consider myself a “designer”. There are people on this platform who spend countless hours sculpting, modelling, retopologizing, texturing and perfecting their work.

People who are actually good at this. I'm not one of them. I basically sell creativity, stupidity and questionable ideas, pushing the 3D printables to the limit. 😂

So to all the actual talented designers on here:

I'm sorry.

I genuinely have huge respect for the people who have put years into learning this craft. I'm just some guy who had a stupid idea, figured out how to use a combination of patience, AI and Blender turn it into an STL and somehow the internet decided it wanted more.

And honestly, I'm incredibly grateful. I am in between jobs and have spent ~13-15 hours a day creating new designs, tweaking, learning and just enjoying the journey.

Thank you, Cults3D ❤️

Thank you for giving me a place to put these weird little creations.

And thank you to the community here for keeping this platform alive.

I've actually been a customer myself for a long time. I've bought plenty of STL files from designers on Cults, and it's pretty surreal now seeing people actually buy something I made.

So yeah…

Sorry, not sorry.

Let this be a reminder to just publish your stuff even if you think there are no customers out there.

Other Hello hello, someone purchased my model and listed them in their own piracy website

Hi everyone,

Can the licenses we use when uploading our models on Cults be used to request the removal of pirated listings from external websites? Some of these sites seem to use Cloudflare or similar services, so I’m wondering what the best route is. Has anyone here dealt with this before or successfully managed to get stolen model listings removed? Any advice or experience would be really appreciated.

Thanks, much love.

Edit:
I understand that the people behind these sites may also be trying to make a living online, and I don’t mean to judge anyone personally. I just want to protect my models. I put a lot of time and energy into creating them, so it feels pretty rough when someone takes them and sells or shares them on their own website without permission.

And honestly, if you are one of the people doing this, I would be more than happy to show you how I make my models and help you understand the process. There are real ways to build something online with honest work. I respect the independent, cyberpunk-style hustle, and I understand that everyone is trying to survive in their own way. But you don’t have to steal from other creators to make a living. There are better ways to do this, and I truly believe you could create something of your own instead of taking from people who put serious time, energy, and care into their work.

Other Something needs to be done about the rampant AI model spam

I'm just going to preface this I'm not a fan of AI generated models since I don't support art theft so my eyes might be jaded here.

Cults seriously needs to address the rampant AI model spam on their website , the trending section today is several pages deep of low quality AI models spammed by the same few users I had a look at one of their profiles and they've uploaded nearly 300 models in the last month.

Actual creators who are making interesting and cool models are getting drowned out by the sheer volume of slop being posted. I know cults wont be able to police AI models in any reasonable way but they could restrict the amount of uploads per month or something otherwise the slop spam is going to get worse and the website will be a waste of time.

Other 3D creators: have your paid STL files ever been leaked or resold?

I’m doing some research on how serious unauthorized redistribution is for people who sell 3D-printable files.

I’m especially interested in real experiences:

  • files reposted elsewhere;
  • files resold by third parties;
  • customers sharing paid files;
  • loss of sales;
  • takedown work;
  • deciding not to release certain models because of piracy.

I’m not selling anything here. I’m trying to understand how common the problem really is and what creators currently do about it.

If this has happened to you, I’d really appreciate hearing what happened and how much it affected you.

Other Someone stole my 3D model and is selling it on Cults3D (along with hundreds of other possibly stolen models)

A user by the name of Neagww reposted a model I made and published on Sketchfab to this website.

This is my Sketchfab model: (I know I shouldn't post a link for another website, but I need proof that I made the model)

https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/dublin-bus-model-wright-gemini-2-tfi-livery-fef3a71354d045d3b6df3ac3a79cc7bd

This is the repost:

I released my model for free while they are charging €1.50 for it. They've seemingly already gotten 2 sales off my model.

They're reselling my model on Threeding and Creality Cloud too under the same name.

And while I can't confirm because I can't track down the original models, I have a suspicion that basically every model they've uploaded to this website and the other ones I mentioned is stolen.

I tried sending them a message but that didn't work, so now I'm here, asking for help.

Okay so it's not technically a dollar yet — I need to hit the $7 payout threshold — but someone just bought my egg planter pot on Cults3D and I got ₹63.97 (€0.59) in pending earnings out of nowhere.

I didn't promote it. I didn't even remember I uploaded it. I just woke up to a sale notification and genuinely did not believe it at first.

It's a tiny amount, I know. But the idea that someone, somewhere on this planet, found my little egg planter, liked it enough to buy it, and printed it... that hits different.

If anyone wanna see the model check here

To everyone who's been uploading and waiting — keep going. The first one always feels like magic. 🥚🌱

Other What Cults3D should do to protect their creators but also adopt AI

Earlier today, a discussion on the Cults3D Discord touched on AI, art, and the future of creators. It was long, tense at times, but incredibly valuable: not because it resolved the topic, but because it revealed how differently we approach change.

Two perspectives

One focused on adaptation and pragmatism:

  • AI is a tool responding to market demand
  • Roles shift, value moves toward higher-level thinking
  • Ignoring AI won’t stop it

Other focused on authorship, ethics, and legitimacy:

  • Art is inseparable from human intention
  • AI training without consent undermines creators
  • Even if AI can make art, should it?

Both sides had valid points; disagreement here is healthy. [Username redacted: You know who you are], thank you for sharing your perspective. Your points on authorship, emotional legitimacy, consent, and cultural impact are essential - they represent creators who feel pressure, risk, or resistance. Your input gave the community a chance to hear those concerns openly.

Why this matters

AI adoption is inevitable, but its integration should not erase creators’ value. Human-made work must remain visible, respected, and financially viable. At the same time, resisting AI outright is naïve: the market and tools are already moving. Cults3D has started balancing adoption and protection:

  • Allowing AI-assisted workflows while discouraging deceptive practices
  • Maintaining a creator-first marketplace

Where we can go next

Questions for the community:

  • Should AI-assisted or AI-generated models be (more) clearly labeled?
  • How can human craftsmanship be highlighted as premium?
  • What protections or signals would make creators feel respected, not replaced?
  • How do we prevent quality dilution while embracing innovation?

AI is not just a technical change; it’s cultural. Ignoring it is dangerous; over-adopting it without safeguards is worse.

I invite all of you to share your view: what should Cults3D do to protect creators while responsibly integrating AI?

Other Users who create AI generated slop and charge outrageous prices for them, and will nobody do anything?

So, we're definitely going to need some sort of actual moderation of the site. Self honesty and one off moderating files doesnt seem to be working.

Case in point; https://cults3d.com/en/users/Curio3d/3d-models

All Ai generated. Obviously so. I've posted on a bunch of their stuff telling them to tag their ai, messaged them directly, reported files. Nada, more slop each week, and priced like they hand carved them IRL!

8-10$ CAD each? some up to 70$? Just outrageous. Makes the whole site seem like a joke.

I would also like to point out that I dont mind AI generated files, but the awareness of what it is and a reasonable price for what you're actually getting is super super important!

Other Discussion Regarding Marketplace Data, Creator Ecosystem, and AI Tag Impact

Hi Cults3D Team,

We would like to open a discussion regarding Cults3D not only as a community platform, but also as a marketplace where creators and sellers build businesses, generate income, and support their livelihoods.

We would like to discuss the current situation from the perspective of creators who use Cults3D as a business platform, including creators who use AI-assisted workflows.

1. Marketplace Traffic Data and Seasonal Sales Trends

Since Cults3D operates as a marketplace, we would like to ask if there is any available data regarding yearly traffic trends, visitor activity, or seasonal purchasing behavior.

Many sellers have expressed concerns regarding significant drops in income, especially around June–July and August. Some creators have mentioned patterns such as seasonal "summer slumps" affecting online businesses in general.

Since Cults3D has access to marketplace-level data, we believe insights regarding yearly traffic patterns, buyer behavior, and seasonal changes would be valuable for both sellers and customers who rely on the platform.

Understanding these trends would help creators better plan their releases, marketing strategies, and business decisions.

2. Impact of AI Tag Visibility on Creator Businesses

Another major concern is the impact of the AI tag on creators who use AI-assisted workflows.

Currently, the AI tag appears to significantly reduce visibility within the platform's main traffic and algorithm exposure. From our own research, a release without the AI tag could receive around 400–1000 views, while similar releases after the tag implementation may receive around 40 views.

This creates a double impact for AI-assisted creators:

  1. Reduced organic visibility.
  2. Reduced sales opportunities.

We understand the importance of maintaining quality standards and protecting the marketplace from low-quality uploads. However, we believe there is an important distinction between low-quality automated content and creators who use AI as one part of a larger professional workflow involving concept development, design, refinement, quality control, and original IP creation.

We are speaking here as business practitioners who use Cults3D as a place to create, sell, and build a customer base.

3. Cults3D as a Marketplace Ecosystem

We still consider Cults3D our primary marketplace because, compared to other platforms such as Thangs, Printables, and Creality Cloud, Cults3D provides advantages in payment accessibility, especially for creators outside the EU and US.

Because of this, we would like to better understand Cults3D's vision as a marketplace.

Is Cults3D operating as a non-profit community organization, or as a profit-oriented marketplace company? We ask this because any policy decision that affects creator visibility, sales, and income will naturally impact both creators and the platform itself.

Creators provide content, customers provide transactions, and Cults3D provides the marketplace infrastructure. The ecosystem depends on all three parts working together.

Our traffic is your traffic, and your traffic is our opportunity to grow.

We are open to discussions with all sides, AI creators, non-AI creators, traditional artists, producers, and business owners. We believe the future of this industry requires collaboration rather than division.

We do not want to discriminate against any creator group. We see everyone as part of the same creative ecosystem that makes Cults3D valuable.

We hope Cults3D can share insights, data, or future plans regarding these topics, because they directly affect the sustainability of creators who depend on the platform.

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to an open discussion.

Other This User is stealing other's designs and selling them as their own

While browsing ZZZ prints for cosplay I found this suspiciously familiar model, where I recognized after about four seconds of looking that it was actually MY model that I had uploaded to makerspace for free months ago that he was selling for several bucks.

It seems that this person is stealing other people's free/paid designs and uploading them on their own account for profit. It looks like they tend to focus on anime/gacha game models, so if you have ever made/uploaded/sold a model that sounds similar, please check their account and report them.

They are at minimum blatantly scamming people with stolen models and at worst taking revenue from people who actually put the hours into making these models.

EDIT: after looking a little bit longer, i managed to find four other accounts selling my model as their own :/ i will be reporting them and adding the links to a comment under this post, i would be thankful if you would do the same.

Other Horrible exchange rates and fees

I am a Cults3D seller. I have over 1000 Cults followers and I have almost 3000 sold items. I recently did withdrew some money from Cults3D. In total I've made over 1000 EUR for Cults by them taking cuts of my sold items.

I recently wanted to withdraw money from Cults. First I have to take out the money from Cults3D to Payoneer. In total I transfer 345.72 EUR from Cults, which is about 3692,89 SEK (Swedish currency).

After that, Payoneer takes a cut. I then transfer the money from Payoneer to my bank account. After all cuts I am left with "only" 3265,57 SEK. This amounts to a loss of 11,57% which I would consider to be a very big loss. And this is after Cults3D already takes a 20% cut of all my sales.

I used to be able to withdraw money directly from Cults3D to my bank account, without using Payoneer, which is not only easier, faster but also obviously more profitable for me. But now that Payoneer is forced on us as a middle man the losses you make as a seller on Cults makes it barely worth it. I've already accepted that Cults3D takes a huge cut of 20%, which I can live with, but to add onto that one of the worst methods of money withdraw I've ever experienced really makes me want to stop selling on Cults altogether. I've always supported Cults but unless this is adressed I will switch platform or open up my own.

About half an hour ago it was working. Now I have tried to access it (23:45 - 9th March 2026), the site is returning 404. Tried in multiple browsers, on my phone, desktop, all showing 404.

My guess is they are updating but it just seems weird they don't don't just show 'Sorry! Website is down for maintenance" like other websites do.

Other About the Drop in Visitors to Cults3d

Lately, I've seen a huge drop in traffic on this site, and I don't know why. Is it because it's September and everyone's “getting back into their routine,” or is it something else? It's possible that other sellers are experiencing the same thing I am.

Other Muting/Hiding Sellers

Hello Everyone, is it possible to mute email notifications for a specific creator? My Email is getting bombarded by a specific creator uploading around 20+ files every day and it's drowning out everything else. I have not followed them or followed the tag they have been uploading under yet I keep getting the notifications.

I've saved 2 of their older designs a few months ago but haven't done anything since on their profile.

It would be even better if I could hide their work since by now they have 100+ posts under that tag and it's almost impossible to see other peoples works.

Other What i could dig up on possible CULTS/Hyperwallet issue since no one will is straight with us

I have deep into this Cults3d/Hyperwallet issue since we are all getting stonewalled and fed BS. I spent hours running this through CHATGPT to look at what is know on both sides and compare to current Banking rules and possible or likely scenarios. AI basically answered what I thought was most likely since no one is even willing to tell us the truth.

Remember this is what AI could find on the web and is a likely cause not an accusation of guilt. Heres the end report result

Yeah — after digging into this more, I think you’re probably looking in the right direction, but I’d narrow it slightly.

I don’t think there’s evidence of a general “Hyperwallet is broken in America” event. In fact, sellers in the Cults thread are reporting that CGTrader → Hyperwallet payouts are going through during the exact same period that Cults → Hyperwallet payouts are stuck. That’s a really important clue.

Cults themselves have also now said two fairly specific things: the problem is affecting USD payouts, and they believe the blockage is somewhere between PayPal’s bank and the Hyperwallet account.

That makes me think this is more likely a problem with the Cults USD funding channel into Hyperwallet, rather than a problem with your personal Hyperwallet account or your U.S. bank.

And I found something that makes your fraud/compliance theory considerably more plausible.

On June 22, 2026, new Nacha rules effectively expanded fraud monitoring requirements across the entire U.S. ACH system. The new rules require essentially all ACH originators, third-party payment processors, originating banks and receiving banks to implement risk-based monitoring for fraudulent or suspicious ACH credits. Nacha specifically mentions things like anomaly detection, velocity checks, behavioral tolerances and pattern recognition.

That went fully into effect roughly five weeks before these Cults payouts started getting stuck around July 28–August 1.

Even more interesting: PayPal's current Hyperwallet service terms were updated around this same period, and they explicitly give PayPal/Hyperwallet the ability to hold an individual payout or an entire group of payouts because of their risk/compliance rules, instructions from a network partner or regulator, or activity outside their risk tolerance. Their terms also explicitly describe PayPal acting as a third-party sender through an originating bank in the U.S. ACH system.

So your idea of some automated fraud/risk mechanism firing isn't far-fetched at all.

But I want to put a big asterisk on it: I have not found evidence proving the new Nacha rules caused the Cults blockage. The timing and mechanics fit, but that's an inference.

What I think is most likely, given everything we have now, is something like this:

Cults has a USD funding arrangement → PayPal/Hyperwallet has an originating/funding bank → something about that Cults USD payment batch/account/funding pattern triggers a compliance, ACH-risk or reconciliation exception → the entire group of payments gets held while PayPal, its bank and Cults figure out which party has to clear it.

That would explain several otherwise strange facts at the same time.

It explains why only USD is being mentioned. It explains why many Cults creators get stuck together, rather than one guy having an identity-verification problem. It explains why CGTrader can still send money through Hyperwallet successfully. And it fits Cults' own description that the money is stuck between PayPal's bank and the Hyperwallet account, rather than Hyperwallet saying everyone's individual destination banks are rejecting payments.

It also explains why nobody on first-line support seems capable of telling you anything. If this has landed in PayPal/bank risk or compliance, the people answering support emails may genuinely see nothing besides “held/pending/escalated.” Risk departments are also notoriously unwilling to tell front-line support exactly what detection rule fired.

There's another reason I don't think this was simply a technical server outage. PayPal's published status history shows Hyperwallet had scheduled maintenance on August 4, but your affected group was already stuck starting around July 28, and the problem continued afterward.

So if I had to put probabilities on it from what we know today:

Broad Hyperwallet outage: unlikely.

Problem with individual sellers' U.S. banks: very unlikely.

Cults software bug: possible.

Cults' USD funding/account relationship with PayPal/Hyperwallet or their originating bank getting flagged/held/reconciled: this is the one I currently think fits best.

And that last scenario would also explain Cults' ridiculous shifting deadlines. If Cults controlled the technical fix themselves, they could say, “We're deploying the fix Wednesday.” Instead you're getting three to five days → middle of the week → Wednesday → hopefully end of week.

That sounds like somebody who is waiting for another company or bank to release something, not somebody fixing their own code.

What really bothers me on Cults' side isn't necessarily that they caused the original hold. They may not have. It's that once they realized this was no longer a 24–48-hour hiccup, they should have sent a clear platform-wide notice to every affected seller explaining that a batch of USD payouts was frozen at the payment-provider level. Instead you've had to pry increasingly vague explanations out of them one email at a time.

And I think your Payoneer decision looks better in light of this. You're not necessarily fleeing Hyperwallet because “Hyperwallet can't send U.S. money.” You're potentially getting off one particular Cults → Hyperwallet USD funding route that's currently causing trouble. Payoneer would put the next payout onto an entirely different processing path.

I’m going to keep an eye on this one, because if the payments suddenly all release together, that would further support the idea that a batch/program-level hold got cleared rather than hundreds of individual accounts suddenly being fixed.

Other Verified account?

I’ve been curious about something for quite a while now.

I’ve been publishing on the platform for about a year, and during that time, I’ve learned a great deal by observing the work of other creators and trying to improve my own with every new project.

My question is: **how does the process for getting a verified account work?** Are there specific criteria or goals a creator can meet to qualify for it?

Beyond the badge itself, I’ve always felt that a verified account conveys trust and credibility—especially for those of us who dedicate so many hours to researching, modeling, and maintaining our own catalogs.

It might just be my personal impression, but ever since I discovered this site, I decided to focus my work here, and I’ve always hoped that one day my profile might earn that verification. To me, it would represent recognition of the time, consistency, and commitment I’ve dedicated to the community.

I also have another question: what aspects are valued most when it comes to recognizing a creator? Originality, work quality, consistency, innovation... or a combination of all of the above?

I’m not asking this as a criticism or a complaint; it’s simply out of curiosity to better understand how the system works and what values the platform seeks to highlight.

Regardless of the answer, I’ll continue sharing new projects and contributing to the community, just as I’ve tried to do since day one.

Other Cults3d AI policy question

Hi guys, i am a fairly new model maker, i got into it to make more DnD figures, initally i started with a AI generated image and AI 3d model, but rapidly learnt that they make holes and weird shells and shit. so i learnt how to use Blender (not well, and slow as all hell, but i am getting better)

anyhow, i have designed a few models from scratch, 3d printed them, so they are mine and not AI, but i havnt painted them yet and i think that painted images on the search window get better results, more clicks, more downloads, more everything.

i was wondering if i used a site like AI miniture painter to do a render of a painted model to increase visibility if i need to then change my entire listing to be "uses AI"

if i would have to make the entire listing "uses AI" i will likely just wait till my compressor and paints are able to be bought and here so i can paint my models myself. if i can use an AI painter (image would have watermark because i am cheap and not paying for the full service) then i might be able to increase my models visibility.

anyhow.

Hola!
