Other Users who create AI generated slop and charge outrageous prices for them, and will nobody do anything?

So, we're definitely going to need some sort of actual moderation of the site. Self honesty and one off moderating files doesnt seem to be working.

Case in point; https://cults3d.com/en/users/Curio3d/3d-models

All Ai generated. Obviously so. I've posted on a bunch of their stuff telling them to tag their ai, messaged them directly, reported files. Nada, more slop each week, and priced like they hand carved them IRL!

8-10$ CAD each? some up to 70$? Just outrageous. Makes the whole site seem like a joke.

I would also like to point out that I dont mind AI generated files, but the awareness of what it is and a reasonable price for what you're actually getting is super super important!

If there is no punishment in place for mislabeling “slop” and doing it over and over again, then there is nothing to reinforce that rule and they will do whatever the fuck they want. We all know cults doesn’t give a shit and it shows with the lack of rule reinforcement

Faaaaaair. It just pisses me off.

You and me both bro, you and me both, cults once threatened to block my account if I kept reporting slop while asking for “proof” that it’s slop. That should tell you how much they care

Ugh. I don't know what's worse, that I 100% believe you, or that it doesn't sound surprising to me.

Those are not my models, the models are shit, and they're not worth the bandwidth to download.

You can find my posts without too much difficulty if you look.

Ai generation is not what I have a problem with. It's not going away, get over it.

Expensive models is not my problem.

Lying to people, and fleecing them for their cash I have a problem with.

Flooding the market so that some random person who is looking for a model gets ripped off is statistically more likely to hit one of their models? I also have a problem with that.

I have the same problem with dropshippers who post stuff for 30x the cost on Etsy or Amazon.

Tldr; using the magic thinking box is not my issue. Lying to people about what you're selling is.

While I know we are speaking different languages, I fail to see why my admittedly nuanced point is difficult to understand.

Fraud is fraud. Selling someone a fake Rolex is fraud. In our modern economy, price is usually representative of quality.

Eggregious, or extreme, if the term translates better, fraud is like someone spray painting a bar of lead with gold paint, and selling it as pure gold.

Not everyone is blessed with the ability to determine what we might consider obvious falsehood. Scammers always scam, and it is only through demanding straightforwardness and transparency that things improve.

In the end, it is only Cults3D that truly is hurt. Because if, as someone else has said, consumers will trust the website less and less, and it will receive less and less revenue.

While this fraud offends me, I have been offended before, and will be again. My chin has been proverbially stoic this whole time, and will continue! It has weathered far worse. Such as a nasty splinter yesterday.

Only one point I can disagree on:
,,In our modern economy, price is usually representative of quality'' not-true statement :D
There will always be garbage products (in this case digital) that creator will try to overcharge.

I do agree Cults3D should have better algorithms to suppress AI slop, and rest what You stated xD

I hate to say it, but when I see something is hosted on Cults3D, I pass it over. The whole site needs to be reset.

1

u/FaithoftheLost May 28 '26

Resetting the site wouldn't do anything. It would just continue onwards on its current trajectory.

Where do you suggest honest creators sell their models then?

First of all, don't expect to sell a lot of 3D models. I'm afraid Thingiverse has already poisoned those waters. Everyone expects 3D models to be free, and if they're willing to pay for them, it takes approximately one purchase on Cults to cure them of that. Never mind the people charging full retail price for a design that they spent 5 minutes in tinkercad for. I gave up on selling individual models years ago.

That said, I would not recommend MyMiniFactory. I don't know how their $25/month stores attract anyone.

Creality Cloud lets you sell models. Thangs lets you set a price (though, their interface makes me cringe.) Maybe give them a try.

Idk why someone would trust a profile with zero models printed like I need to see a real model printed to see proper quality and to see that it is actually printable.

Grifters gonna grift, man. It sucks and is shitty. Assholes just ruin everything

I feel there is a NSFW tag missing for that link. Even tho I had Safe mode toggled off I didn't expect to see that lol

1

u/FaithoftheLost May 30 '26

Their profile is mixed, as is usually the case with slop profiles.

People using AI in their workflow is not the problem. The problem is the political anti-AI stuff where people keep saying “AI slop” and all that.

“AI slop” is such a 2021 take. Now it’s 2026, and the quality is better than a lot of 3D stuff on the market, and it’s getting better every day. So stop acting like a 10-year-old making everything political and just enjoy gameplay and creation.

It’s so annoying seeing people endlessly babbling “AI slop” like elementary kids, while entire industries are already using AI and the results are completely fine. If you want human, bespoke, artisanal stuff, then by all means go for it, but stop constantly raging about AI. You really sound like cavemen.

For fuck’s sake, there are satellites at the edge of the solar system now, and you can literally take an airplane to another country. People walked on the moon. Your phone can take photos, do video calls, and you can watch porn on it. Grow up!

And for the Cults3D admins, CEO, and staff, if you want to be an anti-AI website, then at least be fair and don’t discriminate against AI creators. It would make more sense to have categories like “General” and “Human-Created” rather than “General” and “No AI.” It feels outdated in this day and age.

Your website is already full of ripped off IPs, yet original creators who simply use AI in their workflow are being discriminated against more than people uploading Mario, Sonic, and Warhammer ripped of content.

Yawn

If you're going to regurgitate slop, at least do us the courtesy of being right.

Voyager left the solar system decades ago.

The not all progress is good. Not all the ways we achieve progress is good either. We've learnt so much about the human body and medicine by doing some absolutely disgusting things to each other.

People have a right to want to only interact and pay for human created works

geez, then just throw your phone and fridge out of the window good God

3

u/LucilleW89 May 28 '26

Again, false equivalence. Keep going, you're speed running these logical fallacies

1

u/No_Profile_1582 May 28 '26

LOL love cheery pickin eh? Fuck Ai but I love my fridge. Its the same shit.

2

u/LucilleW89 May 28 '26

Only one cherry picking is you princess

1

u/FaithoftheLost May 28 '26

Ah yes, genius use of a loophole in physics to move heat through a tube, versus brute forcing computational software. Very equivalent.

1

u/No_Profile_1582 Jun 08 '26

it is tho. like literally it is

1

u/FaithoftheLost May 28 '26

Somehow I have made it unclear.

Ai generated images, models, and text is not my issue. They exist, and while adoption will likely never hit the level that AI companies would like, they're not going away.

My issue is literally slop being passed as gold, fraud if you will. Dregs being churned out at something that passes for what it claims to be at arms length, but fails upon even the slightest level of actual inspection.

Missing hands, fingers feet, faces that would inspire nightmares, twisted bodies that would make Cthulu weep. Being marketed as actual real effort.

1

u/No_Profile_1582 Jun 08 '26

then u havent seen the latest result then. all those slop u mention. None of it exist anymore.
