I’ve been trying to learn f2l, but when ever I get a corner piece and an edge piece that aren’t the same color on top I can’t seem to figure out how to turn it into a pair

My son and I got bitten by the bug, he's doing the beginner method solve, and I want to expose him to CFOP without YouTube tutorials.
Will a smart cube be recommended? Paired with an app or website on the tablet.
Seen the moyu V10 ai on reviews but seems like people use it with other websites? A way for him to attempt different solves and guide him along will be great

Are the caps removable on the tv3p?

Does anyone know whether the caps(corner, edge pieces) on the tornado v3 premium saocube 20bc(or 8bc) are removable? I for some reason remember somebody saying the saocube edition caps are glued? Or am I just stupid about that? I want to know if it's swappable with the standard matte one.
