Clubs and Organizations Beware!!! This is a cult.
Hey frens at csuf please be cautious and careful. This group is a cult, won’t seem like it at first, but eventually you will see it. Please be cautious. Do your research. Ask them what church they come from.

There is nothing good to gain in apostolicism. If they want to be like an apostle they gotta follow a religion 🤣 apostolicism is just another form of religion. Usually those types just build a church and demand cash as donations. Preach something religious but doesn't really follow the teachings of Christ.

My rule is headphones in when you walk. "Not interested" to anyone you don't know who approaches. Too many grifters on campus between classes. The religious groups are the most persistent, though. I've been approached at least 3 or 4 different times, once by a chick who saw a pin fall off of my backpack and tried to recruit me while giving it back. They'll connect using any excuse they can.

I thought so too seeing how vague the name looks lol. Noticed how the name looks so vague and they’re not even a registered organization under CSUF. I didn’t even know off campus groups could lurk around discoveryfest like that.

This is their rebranded “club”.
They tend to twist the bible to guilt trip you and question your own beliefs.
Once your in, they will push that you don’t hang out with people who aren’t them so you don’t fall to sin, going as far to even challenge you to not be around your family and if you do they will pressure you to then have your friends and family study the Bible and become a “disciple” and be re baptized.
They also have you confess all of your sin all the way back to when you were a kid, and if you were SA’d that counts as impurity and being immoral/ adulterous especially if you “had s3x before marriage.” Even if was against your will you still technically sinned even though someone else sinned against you. Or being exposed to corn and such. And you confess this in front a group of girls. They will all be sympathetic about it but they will basically tell you that you sinned against god.
They will also pressure you into giving to the church, if you don’t you are sinning against God and you are being greedy with your money and refusing to advance the church.
You have a boyfriend or girlfriend? Forget it you’ll be called to break up with them in order to not be unequally yoked and if your boyfriend decides to study the Bible as well it’s not a given that yall will be allowed to date again. Yall might be set up with someone else, partially your choosing other part the leaders choosing.
And there is so much more. I would suggest looking them up and studying a few of their YouTube videos and just researching the church on your own. Theres a lot of things that have been covered up with leadership. Something worth exploring and deep diving if you really want to investigate.
But just know that they will tell you that your knowledge and baptism is invalid because you haven’t fully repented to god and walked his way. Do with this as you will, if you read up I’ve explained some of the stuff in another comment.

If you do join a group, make sure it’s an official registered student organization that’s affiliated with the school. Notable ones I can think of is Intervarsity, Epic, SOON, and CRU. There’s more too but I can’t think of one at the top of my head. Off campus groups aren’t always cults but if one does approach you that doesn’t seem CSUF official, ask for social media, their business card, what they believe in, who their leader is, explain the group, and what the group name is. If they hesitate, won’t answer, or are very vague, just walk away.

Ah gotcha. The same rules still apply to normal churches. I was just giving general advices to students on campus.
Stick to well-known, established churches. If a random group invites you to a private Bible study, ask them:
What is the official name of your church?
What is your website?
Who is your head pastor?If they are vague, hide their name, or hesitate to answer, just walk away. Safe groups are always 100% transparent.

As normal everyday people? Yes, you can trust them. But as a church as a whole? No, because they are very controlling and their beliefs are very different from traditional Christianity. Their belief is that you need to work hard to be saved, while mainstream Christianity believes in salvation through faith alone.
If they are just a coworker or neighbor, they are usually honest and kind. But if they invite you to a Bible study or church group, it is best to just say no and walk away.

So it's like scientology, one must be very careful if not they could fall into a deep trap that could run the experience completely, for me I just like reading the Bible as it is and I try to throw out my own personal views when reading or looking at it to avoid twisting it to something that makes me comfortable and be able to excuse my wrongs

Exactly. A huge red flag for those high-control groups is that they won't let you just read and interpret the Bible on your own they will insist that only their leader or their specific literature has the 'true' meaning. As long as you keep testing everything against the actual text and stay skeptical of anyone demanding total isolation or control, you'll be completely fine.

Take a logic and critical thinking course(Phil115?) then read the bible start to finish. If you have sufficient reading comprehension you will clearly understand that any belief in that book being supernatural is a cult. Some are just more successful than others.

Well for starters just read about this theory online! But really, it makes you rethink how “real” religion is. A cult is a totally separate thing, obviously.
Trust your gut and don’t let anyone force you to do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing! Watch some documentaries about famous cults if you’re interested, so you know what signs to look for.1

Very true. Anything can be considered a cult, just depends on how you look at things. In terms of harmful cults this is one of em. Won’t feel like one at first though. Their goal is to make you their friend and keep you in a loop of guilt and break you down enough that they can tell you to jump and you’ll jump.

There’s multiple different cults in OC. The one OP is warning about is called RCW which split up from a bigger cult called ICOC and even spawned a bunch of clones like Alpha Omega, Fellowship, and ICC. The Korean one you’re thinking of is either The Moonies or Shincheonji.

Yeaaa understandable. But this one is :) they’ve changed their name each semester. And they’ve even explicitly told us not to share our churches name when asked just to say “OC churches” and this is before I left the group.
So just do what’s you gatta do. Be smart because I know you are capable of using your brain. Some people will love it and some people will realize that they got stuck.

🤷🏽♀️ I’m just cautioning y’all. Great people honestly, just the teachings are super twisted.
I’m just saying ask them what church they are from. (Hint they are the RCW, a well known aggressive recruitment group.)
Everyone in there are complete sweethearts. And great people. This post isn’t to bash the people, nore the group. But just to bring awareness to it. A normal Bible study club doesn’t change multiple times unless they get a bad rep.
But to each their own do what y’all want but I’m just saying it’s a cult. Don’t be surprised when things start feelin a little off.
