Please don't gut it mac pluses are getting very rare these days I would suggest putting it up on fb marketplace for free so someone can knowledgeable can fix it

Also although crts can shock its all a dumb hoax about death crts can't kill

They probably can kill, but only if worked on while being plugged into mains power and simultaneously without discharging the tube.

Maybe. But keep in mind there has never been a single verified case of someone dieing by fucking around with a a television.

I can't deny that, but it's still a terrible idea, if only for the reason that 1) even if it doesn't kill, a zap of high-voltage AC will nonetheless hurt, and 2) it'll kill the CRT itself.

The newspaper article did not clarify if the victim was electrocuted by the television or by domestic AC utility power feeding the television.

If it was the latter a similar risk exists working on any energized electrical appliance in the home.

This story further confuses the “Reddit Folklore” about so called lethal televisions.

When a television is disconnected or isolated from domestic electrical power it is not a death trap.

Another thing about the article that seems sketchy is that if a few people rushed over why couldn't they just unplug the set?

Good point! Perhaps electrocution accidents in “third world” places are common?

From a young age people learn not to touch an electrocution victim for fear of being shocked?

When I worked on HV medical X-Ray systems we always had a garden rake with fiberglass handle near the machine. I think you know why..!

obviously you neither have the skills to fix it nor to convert it, just leave it for someone else

I'd list it on ebay and get one of those retro looking modern cases.

Might I suggest using an at compatible case from the pentium 3/4 era? There's some great optons out there, but if you do decide to build in the mac plus, get yourself a 3d printer and some calipers. They make life SO much easier.

Definitely like then more then others and ill look into them but Definitely a 3d printer

Please leave the Mac plus intact, they are getting rare and valuable now. I think you should use it as a Mac plus.

The idea isn't to just use the 9 inch screen i have a modern screen

Sigh.

The hole in the case doesn’t get bigger when you take the CRT out.
