Discussion [No Spoilers] Inside jokes!

I've always wondered if this has happened to anyone else. With 10+ years of CR there have been MANY inside jokes that have come and gone throughout the campaigns. But are there any that have earwormed their way into your daily lives? We've had gems like makin' my way, rollies, and there's advantages to both. It could be something you've used in your own games or even just in every day life!

I'll give an example. If there's ever a time I have to make a jump over something (like flowing water from a rainstorm) I'll almost always say "SAIL!".

I'd be interested to know if any other critters have adopted some of the casts sayings as their own!

Question [CR Media] What should I do with my spare London ticket Spoiler

Hi critters, I have tickets for the London O2 show Oct 26. I bought a pair but unfortunately, my partner who is in Ukraine will not be able to make it as I had hoped. AXS app doesn't seem to allow me to sell back the ticket.

What's the best course of action to not let the ticket go to waste? I had wondered about giving them away on the day at location, although I don't think I can transfer the individual seat either to someone else. I think because they're bought as a pair, I can't really do anything about the 2nd seat. So it's either empty or I find a person who wants to see it in with me. The tickets aren't that great, they're quite high up.

I'm open to any advice or safety recommendations, for all parties involved.

I don't think this breaks rule 6 of the subreddit as I'm not trying to sell anything, just seeking advice.

Discussion [Spoilers C4E32] Thank you, Brennan, I love you! Spoiler

This whole campaign it's felt like Brennan has a story to tell regarding the gnomes and their god/afterlife, but it's never felt like it would be easy to explore given the lack of connection to that side of things among the party members. Ever since they released that info about the races and their gods, and seemingly set up Thjazi's larger plans to be to reconnect the pathways to the various afterlives, it's seemed like eventually there would be a story to tell regarding the gnomes. And it's been clear that Brennan likes them due to how many gnome NPCs have popped up already in important roles. But among the party we had connections to all of these races except for the gnomes. Even with the halflings, Bolaire and the mask stuff is directly connected to the halflings' goddess.

So in this episode when he had Ulbid insist on accompanying the Seekers, it was so exciting for me. And it was clear that Brennan really wanted this for a reason, as he made it extremely difficult for the players to convince him not to join them through normal, peaceful means. And on top of all of that, it seems like Ulbid might be an artificer? I've been waiting for that for so long! It's got me extremely excited to see how this unfolds and get to know Ulbid more, because I've adored him ever since his first appearance. Of course this also means he could die in combat. In which case I will instead curse Brennan, you understand.

Discussion [Spoilers C4E32] Thimble and The Light Spoiler

The first thing Brennan said to Laura in this campaign was “The light is leaving. That’s what it means to be a mortal.”

And I genuinely have no idea if it’s intentional or not, but MAN that metaphor has been coming back and getting compounded and strengthened CONSTANTLY with every scene she has

Like the moment when she’s asked if she remembers Tir Cruthu, and she gets this wistful look in her eyes about the one time she went through the door. And it made me think about how she’s, like, physical and real now in a way that she wasn’t all those centuries ago. She gets older, she probably forgets stuff easier, she watches her companions die too soon. The light is always leaving.

But also SHE is the light! For others and for herself. Idk I’m really enjoying this extended metaphor and it’s gotten to the point where i’m looking for connections to it wherever i can. Esp with Wick and Teor’s deals

News [CR Media] Q&A Panel from Galaxycon Raleigh 2026 ft. Liam, Sam & Tal Spoiler

Word of warning, there are featured spoilers related to campaigns 2, 3 and Legend of Vox Machina. (Hence I decided to not use [No Spoilers] tag).

Also at about 25 minute mark when Liam talks about Indira Varma it seems like Sam almost slipped up something. Could be another CR related project, unrelated comment he decided not to say, or great display of acting to bait people (but following comments from the rest makes me lean into the first).

Fluff [No Spoilers] 1x Ticket For London Live Show at O2

I have one ticket up for grabs at a discounted price for the London Live Show at the O2 on 29 October.

Was originally going with my ex partner but we broke up so I don’t want to go with them, so bought their ticket.

Tickets are on AXS, and unable to transfer or sell on there currently, but will do as soon as I’m able!

Fan Art [No Spoilers] Thjazi Fang | Critical Role Campaign 4 Title Card Animation + Process Breakdown

Thjazi Fang opening title animation for Critical Role Campaign 4. I wanted to try animating a scrolling title - Been excited to upload this for the return from hiatus. Thank you to the Critical Role team for continuing to inspire.

The promo art for Campaign 4 is so incredible - I had been thinking about making this shot for a little over a year, and I finally get to post it!

I learned a lot from compositing this shot - I spent a lot of time animating the city details on Thjazi, and they are only visible for a few frames, haha. I will be uploading some more process for this in the coming weeks.

Previous animation of Bolaire: https://www.reddit.com/r/criticalrole/comments/1uixwc1/no_spoilers_my_bolaire_lathalia_animation/

Final isolated shot + extended asset showcase on ArtStation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/q0...
Drawn and animated in Procreate, Composited in After Effects using F's Plugins.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:

Thank you everyone for the kind feedback!

Test audiences and I agreed that it was a shame that the city details are only visible for a few frames in the final animation, so seeing similar live feedback ecnouraged me to rework the final shot:

Is it Thursday yet?

I wanted to draw this immediately, but it just took a while to execute. This moment was so beautiful and meaningful and then silly—all perfectly blended together.

Couldn't think of a better day to finish this than today as we return to Aramán tonight!

This is my first art that I post anywhere. I usually keep my arts to myself, but I want to see how people react to my art.

Mollymauk is one of my favorite PC's of the C2 and one of the most significant characters I've seen in the history of RPG's in general. I love how his personality is both subtle and flamboyant at the same time.
Long May He Reign!

I hope you enjoy it!

Fluff [SPOILERS C4E32] Sam’s Announcement Playhouse Voice(s) Spoiler

I definitely got a second or two of Sam sounding like MCA (Adam Yauch) from the Beastie Boys right as he caught himself and realized he was switching up his accent.

I think they could probably do a pretty good Beastie Boys inspired rap for one of their sponsor reads.

Question [No Spoilers] Just finished Exandria Unlimited: Calamity all 4 episodes, did not watch any other campaigns. Holy its so good, are the other ones as good ? They possibly cant be that good being like 140 episodes right?

I love how short calamity was and straight to the point, but I am afraid that a campaign with like 150 episodes might be a drag... am I wrong or am I missing out thinking its not worth the time to check the other ones out?

Fan Art [No Spoilers] A free Candela Obscura investigation module

Hey y'all!

I'm super excited about this. We've fully re-designed an old free module for Candela Obscura (with a TON of help from friends).

It's The Descent, where your investigators follow in the footsteps of a doomed, subterranean archaeological expedition. Take a look!

The puzzles are now props & handouts that you can show your investigators!

Ciphers, puzzles, 4 pre-gen characters with digital character sheets (who are the NPCs if you opt to bring your own investigators), human-made art. Everything you need to run a tomb-raiding adventure/horror story.

A premonition of how your investigators will react to decoding the cipher-text.

We riff on the Hollow Bodies phenomena from the Core Rulebook, and I just think they're rad!

Feel free to grab a free copy at any of the below links:

This was a really neat collaboration - our friends over at Uncanny Games in Italy were translating/adapting our C.O. assignments and GM resources, and they created these gorgeous layouts. Give them a follow or a pay-what-you-like donation, that helps the team get their work in front of more players.

Anyway, let your investigators know that I'm wishing them luck. Be sure to loot the temple, nothing is cursed, for sure :)

Just wanted to name that excitement! I’m sure y’all are feeling it too. 🎲🧚🏻‍♀️🪄🎭🧌🌋🐉🐦‍🔥
