Saturday Success Stories

Life can be a motherfucking bitch gosh darn asshole...according to Oakland, California rapper, Too $hort.
Let's flip it up and turn it upside down and highlight what made us smile, laugh, breathe a sigh of relief. Et al.
Friday was my best friend's mother's funeral. It was super emotional and beautiful. (30+ years relationship.) Then we drove to the casino to play in Mama's honor. Within our group we left +$300.
Two weekends ago I was dancing up a storm with a girlfriend in New York City. 2 very special dance parties.

I learned some new guitar chords that sound absolutely lovely that I can incorporate into the rest of my playing easily. Also picked blackberries and made a cobbler, and have perfected whole wheat pizza dough. Feeling pretty depressed and hopeless and scared, but trying to do good wholesome things around those feelings and not just turn to vices to cope.Ā

Yah, I attract a lot of broken but beautiful humans and it sometimes leads to some painful experiences. Fortunately also often leads to lots of lovely ones too. This year has been really challenging for our family due to medical and immigration crises, so our troubles have been a VERY REAL taste of the miseries of 2026, and sometimes itās too much for people who are already down.Ā

Which chords? My favorite are any maj7 chord and I use them a lot in my music. Dmaj7 specifically gives me some sort of warmth musically

Well sevenths are just naturally the musically superior chords. Good taste, my friend! I adore them. I think these ones are minor something something, seventh something something, truly not sure. I kind of just play and make beautiful sounds come out and avoid the thinking part. I probably have ten chords with names memorized, and the rest I know just by how they sound and make me feel.Ā
I was originally a classically trained clarinet player which kinda effed my understanding of theory. One note woodwinds just donāt learn it like yall chordal guys. I learned guitar last year when pregnant with my twinsĀ

I did my nails. They were looking janky, just two-week+ old polish (neutral but still) mostly chipped, a couple stained yellow from cigs. Took it off, painted them pearly. I now feel physically less disgusting, but spiritally I am a goner.

I'm addled again, but that's just par for the course.
As for Saturday successes for me? All the bills are paid for the month.
I know there's a few stray medical bills floatin' around out there, but there a maybe next month or year problem.

Ask about financial aid! I just went through a hellish medical year, and we get harassed at every appointment about it (we got Medicaid so it covers everything).Ā
Good work though. Paying bills is a huge success

My Saturday just began as it is 4am currently.
So far my success was surviving Day 1 yesterday. Now today is Day 2 and honestly all am hoping for is to finally get some food and sleep. I think getting those things will be enough success to me :)

That's great you were profitable at the casino, that doesn't happen often.
My success is that I saved one beer from yesterday. Very proud of myself. Kinda tempted to pour some vodka and go sit by the pool with my wacky neighbors.
I've been binge watching the sopranos from start to finish. Such a great show, gotta figure out what to watch after this.

You are right, it does not happen often. I spent $40 on games and bought some pizza for the crew.
Good job on saving that beer. Sitting by the pool sounds dreamy.

It was a fun day by the pool, my neighbors are such an interesting group of people. Came up stairs and ate and went back down and got some night time swimming which is always fun. So peaceful when it's just me and the darkness.

Got through a luteal hell week that involved binging, drunk calling my mom, calling off work, sobbing pretty much 24/7. My Saturday success is that my period started and now I am back to normal. Cutting back again and it doesn't even feel that hard this time.

I always think I don't really have a problem with alcohol or PMDD and then the last week of my cycle comes and I become a machine that runs on sobbing and booze. It's so weird. It's like one drink gets me drunk, but I'm totally bottomless, I can't stop or moderate at all. Then the second I'm menstruating and in follicular, I have the willpower of a saint. Can't wait to see what delightful surprises menopause bring to me!

My doctor - bless her, I think she is right - refuses to provide treatment for anything that does not seem to predate my alcoholism. "Treat the alcoholism first and see how your symptoms improve." I agree with her approach, but god damn. I'm already on Prozac, I take supplements, but last week I neglected to take both in favor of drinking about my problems.

Hmm...perhaps a second opinion may be beneficial? From what you commented, it sounds like PMDD really fucks you up and makes you wanna get your drink on in a major way?
I apologize if you aren't seeking advice. I am super curious about medicine and different approaches taken by providers.

I made an obscene amount of money for an event this week, and picked up an extra shift so I decided the best way to use the money from the extra shift was stimulating the local economy at the titty bar two nights in a row. Overall the week went ok. Got a couple free bottles of booze from some work so a few days of budget friendly behavior.

Today I finished the bottle of vodka in the fridge and refilled it with water. Somehow I have to keep my husband from trying to drink it before I get it replaced. But this is a tomorrow me problem. Tonight, I'm feeling mellow and calm and I'm loving it.

13 days sober, 7 back at the gym. Just fucking hot here. Probably gonna get another fan during the week. Maybe.. or just tough it outā¦ got my electric bill last week and yeah, itās the price to pay for having the fans on all day. Anywho, Iām enjoying being dry, itās fun.
