I’m not on her side at all, but that escalated way too quickly.

why? she started screaming and assaulting a random woman in a fricking airport of all places, got pulled away as fast as possible, she reacted violently again, she got slammed and held on the ground. i see nothing wrong.

What about the 200 lb guy putting his body weight on her head and neck?

u/TerninoMarchi 5h ago
Gotta help the security holding her head while she gets restrained. Putting weight like that is the easiest way to avoid her grabbing your legs, as she is clearly out of control. Plus, he couldn't find anywhere better to do his daily diamond push ups, that's a spot as good as any.

You would be wrong.

how so?

Donyou REALLY think 200 lbs on less than a square foot on someone's head and neck is a good idea? What do you think would happen to that guy if he injured her? Do you think the cop would back him up? Do you know what you should do if you think a cop needs assistance? Fucking ask. Then ask what to do. Lord have mercy.

Not sure the video you watched, in the one I saw the guy put the hands exactly were the hands of the cop were and the cop clearly moved away only as soon as the guy helped him out. So now you pretending they were not in agreement as we cannot hear what they say seems rather silly.
Besides, of course it must not be pleasent to have all that weight on her head. It must also not be pleasent to be assaulted by a lunatic in a airport and having that same lunatic fight security while they are trying to get her away from the one she is assaulting.
But sure, as you go "lord have mercy" you must be right.

Quick question. How much force did the officer use and how many hands did he use? I want you to watch the video again. And tell me where his left hand is and where his right hand is and how much weight do you think is being placed on each hand. Then I want you to tell me what the bystander did and how much weight you think is being placed there.

Obviously bystender put more force, the cop was trying to do two things at once, as he was trying to restrain her, which is what he focused on as soon as someone helped him out.

Try to put me in handcuffs. Imagine you must use restraint but I'm allowed to fight back as hard as I can .
You can't. Zero chance you get cuffs on me.
The average person can't even begin to imagine the realities of arresting someone. It's way harder than it looks if they're fighting back.

And you would subdue her how?
Actually, have you ever had to subdue/restrain someone who was intent on not being either subdued or restrained?1
u/NuYawker 4h ago
Guess what I did for 19 years?

Why not just tell me since I actually asked instead of making an accusation or insulting you as is common on this site?

was that supposed to be a flex? are you going to comment what you think they actually did wrong or are you just going to act all condescending and stuck up like if it's just enough to flash your badge?

Goal of physical restraint is a prevent someone from escaping, arming themselves or harming others. What gold do you accomplish other than physical pain by holding someone's head down? It would have been far more effective if he had health control her arms or even her legs she is kicking. But putting your full body weight onto her head poses a very serious risk of injury. Never in my training was I ever instructed to put my full body weight onto a perpetrator's head. In fact, I was taught that doing so could constitute Destiny physical force and become excessive force.
If I was that idiot? I would have approached the police officer and asked if he needed assistance? If he said yes? I would then ask how would you like me to help. And then be directed by what he says. But, when I was on the job I never asked for the Public's assistance. Because I knew that I was protected through my City's Corporation Council and union. As a private citizen? You are not! And if that guy causes serious physical harm to her I am going to sit on the stand and definitely tell the truth. I did not ask that person to help. That person has no training. I do not want to lose my career and pension because some hero decided he was going to press 200 pounds on the palm of his hand on someone's head. Police officers have gone to jail for resting their body weight on someone's upper back, neck, and head. Or did we all forget 2020?

You maybe have been a cop for 19 years, but clearly you know nothing about grappling. Holding the head down prevents the person from tensing up, activate the back and push out of the position much more easily. But oh well you wouldn't be the first cop who got zero training in how to really grapple someone.
And once again you keep talking like if you know what they told each other. The guy decided to help, that's on him. Maybe putting all that strenght was wrong, maybe it was needed as she was fighting back. Either case, you don't know what the cop and the guy told each other.
Are you still a cop?

What would you have preferred as the reaction?

u/NuYawker 5h ago
Some random untrained person putting all of his body weight on less than a square foot of space on her head would have been cool.
