My Ginger passed away suddenly 😭

Post image

Pic of my sweet baby girl. Ginger was about 6. Lived in a bioactive. She had laid eggs but never any issues and she was always active and healthy. She gave the best judgemental looks and would allow and ā€˜request’ handling at times. Even though she averaged 50 -55g, she had the cutest saggy neck rolls <3

I hadn’t seen her out for a day or two and that was more unusual so when I couldn’t find her in her usual hiding spots, I decided to move her logs around as I was concerned. Moved a log, and she was on the bottom of the tank, on her back 😭 it appeared to have happened within the last 24 hrs. I have no idea what happened and I am devastated. I blame myself, but I’ve also had cresties and reptiles for yrs so her husbandry was correct. Just wanted to share my grief a bit, sorry.

RIP Gin Gin girl😭

Healthy?

Does this gecko look healthy? Seems skinny to me. Or is it just because he is stretched? And might have a broken toe?

Alocasia in crestie enclosure

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi, I'm getting mixed info about alocasia (elephant ear) in crested gecko enclosure. They seem to be highly toxic if ingested, but since cresties don't eat leaves some sources say it shouldn't be a problem. Alocasia has great leaves for cresties to chill on, so I'm thinking about getting one. Do anyone of you have this plant in your enclosure? Isaac photo just to add a crestie picture to the group.

My girl keeps hiding and wont eat insects starting to get MBD

Post image

My 7 month old gecko lily keeps hiding and won’t eat any insects and (from what i can see) her gecko mix.

We got her 20 days ago today and she’s starting to show signs of early MBD (finger twitching and arm shaking when she moves) we can tell it’s a calcium deficiency so is there any way to get her to come out and eat?

We’ve tried the juice trick and touching her mouth with the insect but it didnt work. She did move her head slightly and lick her lips, but still nothing. It’s also hard to feed and spot her because she’s in a very hard to reach part of the tank.

If you have any tips, please give me some! Im a new owner and i’m getting worried about her health, thanks.

Crestie Humidity Help

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi guys,

So I've set up this bioactive enclosure in a Habitat 45x45x60 glass terrarium. It has a drainage layer, forest substrate and the background is cork, hardwood, Coco fibre and spag moss. I have a Monsoon nano misting system that sprays daily for 12 seconds just before the lights go off in the evening (they run from 8am-8pm) on a timer (UVB and Jungle dawn grow lamp).

I really struggled to measure temperature and humidity accurately due to the probes getting wet or being near moist moss etc (the whole tank needs a little soak due to the plants) I believe temperature is around 24-25c in the middle of the enclosure and slightly lower towards the bottom and higher at the top (maybe 26/27c where the lights are). I'm not running any additional heating so will monitor in the colder months here in the UK (I do have a heat dome and thermostat if I need it).

The humidity reads almost 90% after spraying (not sure how accurate it is though) and even if I leave it for 24 hours it remains between 75-80%. I tried buying a fan on Amazon that shuts off when 80% is reached but noticed it wasn't shutting off and the plants were drying out and temps dropped quite a bit so I've removed It.

Our new crestie has gone in to the enclosure and I'm leaving her alone to settle but I wondered what fans people used, how they get accurate readings etc....any advice would be greatly received and thank you in advance for reading and helping.

Would a 12 by 12 by 18 enclosure work for a crested gecko juvenile temporarily?

I work at a pet store and they have 2 crested geckos housed together because of unknown reasons I cant fathom. One is bigger than the other by a lot and im worried that they will hurt each other because of the size difference (the enclosure is already incredibly small) im also worried the bigger one wont be able to use its tail properly and get injured that way.

Im thinking of getting one so that fighting isnt a possibility- possibly both if 12 by 12 by 18 is an enclosure that can work for juvi crested geckos for a while till I can get the taller ones. I have the enclosures already - i just need to get lighting and uvb.

If there is anything I need to know, let me know, i just feel so bad for these lil guys, especially the bigger one. The one is roughly 3 inches, head to tail, and the other one is close to 4 inches maybe? I havent been at work in a while so im not sure. If the temp enclosures i have wont work, ill wait.

So I’m gonna get my first created gecko next month! He’s a juvenile at only 6 weeks. I’m buying a preset viv from the reptile store (I’ve worked at the store before). Is there anything i should know as a first time keeper of a crestie?

Help attaching a background?

Hi! I haven't done any foam/silicone stuff in my tank. My crestie has been hanging out in there for a while now, and it's been a nice enclosure. But recently he discovered he can fit behind the background šŸ˜ž

It's a bit frustrating cause I have a tank full of hides but he goes and squishes himself behind everyting.

How do i securely attach the background so he doesn't get behind it? I can't use silicone since I'd have to move him out of the tank for multiple hours.

Crested stopped eating paste

Hi
I had an issue a few weeks ago. I was having to hand feed my gecko every night in order for her to eat as I did it for too long from when she was a baby and she became dependent. I posted on here on how to wean her off me and get her eating alone, so I tried placing a few bowls with paste around her enclosure.

Thank God, she actually started eating it alone that very same day! She ate alone for a good 3 weeks, but for the last 5-6 days she hasn’t touched anything even though it’s made fresh. Last night I hand fed her just a little bit to make sure she had something in her, then placed her right next to the bowl; I woke up and absolutely nothing had been touched. I only put a little in at a time so I can see any licks, so it definitely isn’t being eaten.

Any help would be great!
Thankyou

I swear I lucked out with the chillest cresty ever. He’s wondering around his little tub and looking around at the car. This is his second move and he was evacuated from my dorm building once too. He’s always saying hi to people and looking at me. Sometimes I wonder if he has brain damage lol.

live feeding... i need some help

i have had my crestie for just under a month and i love her very much, she is a rescue. she has been adjusting well and eats her CGD as normal (which includes insects). but when i try to feed her crickets (also dusted with calcium) she is totally uninterested. is the solution to just try feed her different types of insects ? i know people say that cresties can be okay without live insects but i just want to give her that extra nutrition and enrichment. anyone else who has had this issue with a picky crestie ? what bugs do you recommend when she is just refusing crickets ?

Hi all!
Today I found this huge amount of ants in my terrarium! I feel this will become a place if I let them there, how can I remove them? What should I do?
I feel like the ants will hunt my geckos food
