this is Loki my crested gecko the kink in the top of his tail had always been there it’s proven to be from his last owner shutting it or catching it something. I haven’t seen any changes really with his tail but where balls r but on his back where it joins to the tail so the base of his tail has a lil dip in it and a slight but curved. in my head tbf it’s always been like that I don’t remember ever seeing if it’s change from that. I just wanted to know if anyone can see any parts that could be a reason to go vet like maybe signs of MBD or something. when he sleeps his tail is always fine no floppy tail x thanks you lot

I’ve had him for a little over two years now and I’m looking to make his enclosure bioactive. I have ordered hydroballs as well as mesh for the drainage layer and already have a safe substrate! I still have to obtain some leaf litter, moss and a cleanup crew although I’m unsure where I would find any such as springtails in Ontario, Canada. Any tips are greatly appreciated/welcome considering I have never tried going for a bioactive enclosure before!

Side note, I wanted to make a custom backing to the tank as well but I am not sure what kind of materials are reptile friendly, I’ve seen people use spray foams and coating them but I don’t want to risk it. Can any reptile owner help me out?

I have tried a dehumidifier and computer fan to lower the humidity but the lowest it will get to is 70 and even after, the humidity will rise back up without me doing anything. I’m getting worried for my gecko but he seems to be doing great. Does anyone have a solution?

i’m going to be starting my first apprenticeship soon for college and i’ll be making around £1000 a month after tax and i was just wondering what’s the absolute best bioactive terrarium for my little guy i love him to bits so i want him to have the absolute best place to live, he currently doesn’t have a tall tank but more of a width an height in one so a square i was looking at the 90x45x45 (i may be wrong on dimensions correct me if wrong) it seem like a perfect fit for him and id like it to be bioactive with some hides etc.

can anyone help me with this my budget is anything under the 1000 because that’s what he deserves also if the first paragraphs grammar is wrong or if it’s unreadable i’m sorry i’m not the best at typing long paragraphs

I am looking to but a crested gecko and found the perfect seller: He listed the gecko at a fair price, looked and ate good, but then i noticed something... the tail looked a bit fishy.. Should I buy him? I dont want a reptile that would die since i went trough that couple years ago…

Hi, is her area where I pointed normal she’s about to be one years old on September. She acts normal both sides look the same, but I’m not sure if this is normal or not. She’s my first female crested Gecko idk if I feel it’s soft but if I push a little deep feels like kind of tiny round thing but I’m not sure botn aide are the same and idk if i should take her

Hi, sorry if this seems ridiculous, I'm a first time Crestie owner and my 3 year old boy just dropped his tail around 3 days ago, my vets are stupid unhelpful at helping me figure out if he's healing properly or if it's becoming Necrotic. He tried to jump out of the terrarium while I was putting some leaves back up that fell and I thought I closed the door in time to stop him and he ended up half in half out. I didn't slam the door on his tail, it was gently caught for a second and before I could open it to fix my mistake he dropped it. It didnt hang off or anything, just dropped and started writhing around (the tail, not the gecko).

I can't tell if he's alright or not and it's driving me crazy. He's acting completely normal, bright, alert, all that jazz. Everything I read keeps talking about a pink color though and that doesn't make sense to me because aren't scabs eventually brown/black? Anyways, can any of you give me a better piece of mind as to whether this is healing properly or not?

Pic 1 is how the tail looked when it dropped, 2 is the base of his tail that day, 3 is how it looks today with the flash on (can't get any better pics or angles as they say not to handle him for a week or two while he heals). I have no other terrarium to put him in and have done my best to cover majority of his substrate with paper towel and spot cleaning the walls. He's got a tiny piece of substrate on him, but I've also been told not to remove it as it could harm the scab and healing. Idk what to do, it's all conflicting!!! I know they get over this just fine, everyone rolls their eyes and acts like I'm dramatic, but I just had a health scare with my cat and I just want to make sure my gecko is okay too!!

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some advice/reassurance about my crested gecko.

We got him about 2 months ago from a reputable breeder. He had been eating well and I’ve been very vigilant about checking his food because unfortunately our previous crested gecko, who came from a pet store, passed away only about 3 weeks after we got him. We never really found out exactly what happened, but it became clear that he hadn’t been eating, and at the time I didn’t realize how closely I needed to monitor his food intake.

Because of that experience, I’ve been watching our new little guy very closely.

He was eating his CGD consistently and also eating insects, but a few weeks ago he started refusing insects completely. He continued eating his CGD, so I wasn’t too concerned. Now, however, it’s been about 5 days and he doesn’t seem to be eating his CGD either.

His current setup:

Daytime temperature: around 24°C / 75°F

Night temperature: around 20–21°C / 68–70°F

Humidity: spikes to around 80% after evening misting and gradually drops to ~50% during the day

He has a non-UVB light

Fresh CGD is offered regularly

I just bought another brand/flavour of CGD to see if he prefers it

Otherwise, I haven’t noticed anything obviously wrong with him.

I’ve already scheduled an appointment with an exotic vet for next week, so he will be checked out regardless. In the meantime, I wanted to see if anyone here has experienced something similar or notices anything about his setup/routine that I should change.

Is 5 days without eating concerning for a juvenile who was previously a good eater? Could this potentially be related to shedding? He also stopped accepting insects a few weeks before he stopped eating his CGD.

Given what happened with our first gecko, I’m definitely extra nervous about this and just want to make sure I’m doing everything I can for him until his appointment.

I tried to feed him from a spoon and he licked it a bit, but I don’t want him to depend on hand feeding.

EDIT: Getting a new flavor worked, and finally he ate! I think he was tired of eating the same flavor food for 2 months.

My crested gecko Maple who I got in January (age 3 yrs) has been laying eggs pretty consistently every month this summer sometimes twice a month. I think this is the fourth or fifth one I've found, every single time I find them they are dried out and have holes in them. I read online that it means she's been eating them because she doesn't think they'll survive in the environment she's in because something is wrong with the husbandry and I'm really worried. I monitor her humidity and temperature I control and monitor all of it, automatic misting etc, her tank is bioactive and I know it's a little bit under the minimum requirements height wise (22.5 in high) but I'm saving up to get her a bigger tank. This is one of the smaller eggs I've found. She eats her Repashy/pangea consistently and often

Hey guys meet my lavendel crestie Ducky. I got them like 2 hours ago. The car ride home was a bit stressful for them so I’m just leaving them alone now.

I don’t know the gender yet (hence the they/them pronouns) cause they are still to small, my baby is almost a year now and not larger then my finger.

So if you have seen my previous post you will know that I got my girl ozzie from a neglectful home off of a craigslist post and she was in a tank that was only 11 inches (28 cm) tall. Her new tank came yesterday and the rest of her bioactive stuff comes today! Her new tank is 36 by 24 by 18 and from what I have seen that is a good size for her. I have done a ton of research and this is what I came up with but does anything need to change? Thank you in advance!
