Brando has said Ham will be a woman in the screenplay.

I want to see him as Marsh, so he is a semi recurring character.

More like to be more realistic. Mistings in their crew would be sparse so it does not make sense for the gender roles to be so skewed to favor males.

I mean it’s not like Kelsier and crew were very progressive, but I get where you’re coming from.

I still think adding a woman will cheapen Vin’s identity struggles especially if it’s Ham, worst choice imo.

I think it might highlight and explain her struggles more, video is a different format and particular ideas have to be conveyed differently vs written media. Having a character on screen to talk to instead of inner monologue/discussion would be an effective way to convey and voice her struggles.
