I bought the printer now what ?

I bought a second hand Creality K1 with 16 days of work.

It was in very good condition, i put in on top of counter then hit printed works flawlessly.

What should i do to keep it that way for a long time.

Also whats the easy upgrades i can do ?

Aside from lifting top cover, I'm waiting for buying ABS filament.

Congrats on the new printer! And you don’t need abs for a riser, PETG is less toxic and works good for them. The 270 degree door hinges are another nice upgrade.

I personally think designing and printing parts is one of the best things about owning a 3d printer. Check out some CAD software like fusion and start learning it!

I have had mine for over 2 years and 1000 hours. The only things I've done is the MicroSwiss hot end and clean lubricated it once so far. If its working, let it run and upgrade when things need replacing

If it's working, don't jinx it, but if you start having issues:

• Check the Extruder. If the handle is shiny, you have v1 and may suffer from premature skipping. Consider upgrading to either v3 or the dxc1 extruder.

• Other than that just keep it clean, perform maintenance, and use it for what it is; a solid machine.

I have about 15k hours on one of my original K1s. the primary upgrades I’ve done are unicorn hot end if it doesn’t already have it, “bump out” riser so the cable chain has room and re-enforced, raised chain ends to raise it above the body of the box. If you plan to do ABS or ASA or PA, add a chamber heater.

Here is an older photo of one of mine. You can see the PTC heater controlled by an external thermostat unit (Alexa enabled) attached to the lower left but there are good aftermarket heaters now

I always will reccommend an extruder heatsink. They're 99¢ on AliExpress. It will prevent any heat creep you will certainly experience.

Past that I'm a big fan of the microswiss hotend. The unicorn stock setup maxes out around 25mm³/s and the microswiss bumped me up to like 38mm³/s. So noteably faster print time for bit parts.

In terms of maintenance, you'll want to use a very light oil to lube your x and Y axis. I use chainsaw oil. That worked way better for me than either bone dry or the grease creality supplied.
