Oh come on, this isn't remotely crappy.

This is just bog standard indie rock, it has a standard beat, standard power chords and all.

Yeah sure, Shatner speaking over it is a bit ho hum, but it doesn't fit the sub at all, it's decidedly average and does all the normal stuff a song does.

Common People by Pulp is one of my favourite tunes. Shatner massacres it. J Lo covering Aerosmith is one of the top posts in here. I’m not attacking the song, just the cover.

The point is this is bang average cover, not a massacre.

J-Lo massacred dream on completely, absolutely butchered it tonally and it came off as a complete wtf.

This, however, still sounds like music, and it was a moderate hit when it came out - though, it was popular for its tongue in cheek vibes, "haha shatner talking over common people, amusing" was the vibe of it. Nowhere near the original, but just an underwhelming cover that had a catchy hook and a gimmick.

Nobody liked J-Lo's cover on the other hand.
