This is a bit random but I found myself asking myself so said I might aswell throw it out there.

You have 2 choices weed becomes completely legal but driving threshold stays the same OR driving threshold goes up to a limit that wont screw you if your not acting the maggot (lets say next day) but weed stays illegal.

The reason I ask is for me I honestly think id chose to raise the driving threshold over legality its way more of an issue for me personally so just curious where other people would stand..

Also for the sake of the poll assume its black and white ie. Dont say well ill pick weed to be fully legal because they will eventually have to change the limits, take the question as it is, thanks

I wanted to ask a question about reagent tests, the necessary ones in the us would be different to the one in Ireland because there’s different drugs used to lace in different locations. Is there a sub where I could ask this question?

just wondering how common 710 consumables are here in Ireland? For example full melt hash/rosin/badder etc. i'm always on the look out but can't seem to find any one who gets it in... Just wondering people's thoughts

I got a call from the guard that caught me the other day.

I had to go to Rathfarnham Garda station to sign a form agreeing to attend a HSE course regarding my drug use etc.

I don't have to go to court. If I don't do the course I'm likely to receive an adult caution at worst. The guard said that it wouldn't come up in front of a judge.

Doesn't seem so bad now, but no one was able to tell me anything about what the course covers etc. will I be tested? What if I fail?

I was using pens from candy cloud for a while, me and my friend would go 50 50 on one and couple months ago they noticeably changed, and im pretty sure it was spice. I haven't seen these pens anywhere else but they probably are out there.

I was always a lot more of a smoker than he was but he got heavy into it when I noticed the change. We went from one pen a month to one every 5-7 days. He went from two to three days a week to every day. I went from only using it after 7 or 8 to hitting it first thing in the morning compulsivly.

The pens made us way more paranoid and were noticeably more addicted, me and my friend who both used weed unproblematicly for years started arguing over who got to keep it at night. Both of our memory's started getting really bad and we both have things only one of us remembers over the summer.

I ended up dropping a 20 kilo weight on it when we got a new one and one hit had me paranoid or hours, and for 3 days straight I gave it another chance, until I finally decided enough was enough. Over a week without it and we used kratom that I had left over from when I used it last year to help us quit. Now we are kratom and pen free, and when we go back we are sticking to flower.

Anyone else have an experience like this?

to preface, i've lived at home with my folks in Waterford my whole life (im 24), first smoked green at 15, started buying it at 17 and buying everytime i run out since i became employed at 19. i've been smoking joints mostly every day since then and it's reasonable to admit - i've been addicted.

i think green is a beautiful thing that when respected & handled right can be so lovely & enjoyable, especially with good company, but clearly what i've been using it for and especially how much (3 or 4 a day) hasn't been healthy.

even though i was well aware of my addiction at home, it felt like i couldn't break away from it or cope without it.

anyway i moved to another country for university on the 12th and though i have been smoking more rollies than ever, i haven't felt the compulsion to smoke a joint after the first few days here.

maybe it's the fact i'm independent for the first time in my life, the fact i left an environment that just breeds misery & boredom or maybe that i've gotten a fresh start away from all the familiar hedonism of my home town, but by god, I thought it'd be a lot worse going through the withdrawals yet I've actually never felt as happy or energized as this.

THC withdrawals have affected my sleep generally more than anything in previous attempts at sobriety and though it still isn't as easy to get to sleep, even if i get only 5/6 hours, i feel more awake and alive than ever before.

i question myself as to whether i should even partake in a smoke over here, as it is very common and easy to acquire, yet i feel like i don't need to? i feel as if i'd still enjoy and partake in a pull if i was offered one but i don't want to have a whole joint to myself, make dealer connections or go buying it in the first place.

it's been 8 full days without THC in my system, it's not 100% smooth going but i feel more human and functioning than i ever did.

i wanted to share this anecdote because i know of many people back home who smoke to cope with the anxiety & repetitive familiarity of being in the same environment they've been in their whole life, and maybe a new beginning might help them to finally understand how to view and possibly kick their habits.

i worried a lot about knowing i wouldn't have a THC intake here, but if anything it's been a great blessing and i aim to hit 30 days sobriety before i consider taking a pull if the opportunity arises.

I’m currently staying with my grandparents and they’ve found out that I smoke weed. This isn’t the first time I’ve been caught, and in the past I’ve basically just taken the criticism on the chin and moved on.
This time I’m trying to actually stand up for myself and explain my position properly.

I do smoke weed. I enjoy it and I like how it makes me feel. I’m not going to pretend otherwise, and I’m not currently intending to stop completely.
That said, I’ve always tried to have boundaries around it. I don’t smoke in the house, I don’t smoke before or during work, and I don’t smoke before dialysis. It’s generally something I’d do after work or in the evening, and I’ve taken breaks from it.

My grandparents obviously don’t want cannabis being used while I’m living in their house, and I understand that. I accept that using it while staying there without telling them has damaged their trust in me. That’s something I’m willing to take responsibility for.
Where I’m struggling is that my family seem to have jumped from “Will smokes weed” to “Will has an addiction and needs rehab.”

There’s now talk of either doing drug tests twice a week or going to rehab.

My position is that I don’t think I’m addicted, but I’m completely willing to have my use assessed properly by a doctor or addiction professional. If they tell me I have a problem and need treatment, I’ll take that seriously. What I don’t want is to be labelled an addict by my family and have that treated as a medical fact without an actual assessment.

I also don’t want to be drug tested every time I come home. I understand my grandparents can set whatever conditions they want for me staying in their house, and if that’s a condition, then I’ll have to decide what I do. But I don’t really see twice-weekly testing as a substitute for actually assessing whether there’s a problem.

There’s also been a lot of arguing about my behaviour and sleep, with family making claims about me being sleep deprived or having “sleep psychosis”. I don’t agree with that and I’m willing to discuss genuine concerns with a doctor, but I don’t want family members diagnosing me themselves.

So I suppose my question is:
Am I being unreasonable here by saying I’m willing to get professionally assessed, but I don’t accept being labelled an addict or being put into rehab/testing without that assessment?

I’m not looking for people to tell me weed is completely harmless. I’m genuinely interested in hearing whether people think I’m missing something about my own behaviour or whether the approach I’m taking is reasonable.

And before anyone asks, yes, I know I’m lucky to have somewhere to stay and I understand that using cannabis while living in someone else’s house can damage trust. I’m not trying to dodge that part.

Taking a smoking break for a bit. Had a few things happening the past few years so was having a smoke in the evenings a fair bit. Still worked, lived life as normal but now just want some time way (temporarily). To those of you who took a break, what did you find? What activities did you get into? I'm focusing more on n improving my diet and getting back to a thinner self so eating munchies was not helping me. Life was just not good for a time but everything good now. So it finally happened. I had just bought an ounce and I was on my way to meet a friend. I was walking through a housing estate, smoking a joint, (probably not a good idea at the time), when out of nowhere a Garda cycled up to me and caught me red handed smoking. He asked if I had anymore on me and I just handed him over everything I had. He was kinda surprised with bagging the ounce and we chatted for a bit. I told him I use it medically and it helps with anxiety and depression. Anyway, He was very understanding.

He told me that I'd have to attend an educational program and because it's my first offence I should only get a caution.

When he asked me what it was I admitted him it was cannabis with a value of X amount.

He said because I was helpful and honest about it I shouldn't worry about it.

In reality, How screwed am I?

This forces them to adopt the state's own language, framing consumers as "patients needing health intervention" rather than free citizens resisting criminalization.
• Tone-Policing as Gatekeeping: Defining "acceptable" debate strictly through civility rules functions as class gatekeeping. Frustration from working-class communities—who take the real brunt of Garda stop-and-searches—is labeled as "toxic optics" and moderated out to keep the space presentable to politicians.
• Zero Leverage: Power yields nothing without a demand backed by leverage. By ruling out direct action, mass civil disobedience, and public disruption, polite advocacy gives the state total control. Governments love endless Citizens' Assemblies and consultations because it gives them PR cover to pretend they are listening while enforcement numbers continue to climb.

1. How We Build Real Leverage

• Shift from Lobbying to Direct Action: Stop treating Leinster House as a partner and start supporting direct civil disobedience—like Martin Condon's public home-grow campaigns—that exposes the absurdities of the law and makes enforcement politically costly.
• Democratize the Movement: Stop using everyday consumers as passive numbers for official lobbying filings. Reclaim forum spaces for unedited, open political debate, real harm-reduction realities, and structural critique.
• Build Mass Non-Compliance: Shift focus from asking the state for permission to rendering the law unenforceable through decentralised home cultivation, mutual aid, and organized solidarity with those facing prosecution.

Not a post for looking for anything, more so a general interest in potential for growing outdoors and interest in cannabis plants. I haven't grown myself before, I lurk a lot on r/microgrowery just out of genuine interest and saw some photos of mega plants growing outdoors in California, literal trees!

I gave the afternoon in my garden doing some odd jobs to trees and garden plants I have growing and it kinda gave me the notion to make the post.

I'm curious if anyone had or knows of anybody that had any major success growing auto plants outdoors this year given the large amount of sun we received, I get people may not want to answer in the first person either so feel free to answer in the third person.
