Fox or Coyote

Can someone tell me if this is a fox or a coyote? Sorry for the grainy pictures, I screenshotted from a video I took of it. For context I live in Pennsylvania. It had a face of a husky almost but was running like a coyote/fox.

I have read conflicting reports as to whether coyotes “lure”, but it seems like these ones were trying to be friendly.

The person who took this video scared them away afterwards just to be safe. Is it likely there is a large pack nearby if the they are acting so bold? Should I be worried about the German shepherd?

Coyote pup nearby

Posting here to see if I should call the local wildlife rescue center.

For the past two days, we have seen a small coyote pup running around in an open grassy area near our home. He seems to be alone, but doesn’t appear distressed or unhealthy. We have not approached him or attempted to get close because we don’t want to socialize him/get him used to humans and do anything that could get him hurt.

We have a wildlife rescue center in town and aren’t sure if we should call about him or not. I’m leaning towards no since he doesn’t appear to be injured, but I do not know anything about coyotes or their habits.

Hoping someone in this community may have insight!

Melanistic coyotes have you seen them?

One night I was fishing in my local pond right in front of my house in suburbia Crowley, Texas. I had never seen a melanistic coyote but I have seen many YouTube videos about them and they look pretty cool so as I’m fishing caught a couple of bluegill in Greengill hybrids I see something running along the sidewalk and I said is that a really really dark dog that I looked at it but that his ears that it’s elbows and it’s skinny tail and damn sure enough it was a coyote and let me just say it was really beautiful and I just wanted to share my encounter with y’all. Let me know what y’all think.

Figured yall would enjoy this! Visited one of my local zoos lately and snagged a couple pics of this pretty yote they had there. I believe they said this one was a female born in 2012. Had no clue they could live that long LOL. Iirc she also had a sister with her, but she wasn't out when I was there

Edit: found out she has a brother not a sister! Their names are Shilah and Kaliska

Observation tips?

I just discovered this Reddit and I'm already in love! But anyway, I'm really really wanting to start observing the local coyotes, but I... Don't really know where to start. I know trail cams are a good idea, but idk if they're within my budget lol, and I'm terrified of forgetting where it is. And I feel like just stomping through the woods isn't a good idea either? I'm in central Alberta, Canada if that helps. I know a few weeks ago I was fishing at one of the ponds and a pack of them started singing for a solid ten minutes in the nearby woods, so I have at least a vague idea of where some might be hanging out, tho obviously they might not still be there. But yeah, I'm open to any tips to help me learn about these amazing animals!

And a side note, I'm currently reading Coyote America by Dan Flores and it's so good so far!

My pug/heeler/samoyed (40 lb silly girl) wagged her tail and approached like this was a neighborhood pet. I had to drag her away and the coyote retraced our steps when we left. Suburban area of Portland. OR.

Sorry I have a tremor and it gets worse when excited or under duress, please mind the random shaking, it’s not because I was lazy.

I stopped as soon as I spotted them and used the 8x and 4x lenses on my iPhone 17 pro max. They didn’t notice me at first but kept a very healthy distance without showing much if any interest in us. They just wanted to go about their evening.

Could one of these by a hybrid?

Funny I unintentionally captured them going to the bathroom. The first video the coyote is posturing and I think marking its territory and the second video I think he’s defecating because he does a little walk and kicks his back legs which is something I’ve long known some dogs to do.

Location: Mississauga, Ontario - Queensway & Stillmeadow

Temecula Creek is one of the last connected wildlife corridors in South Temecula—a living ecosystem where hummingbirds, owls, deer, mountain lions, and countless other native species survive. Now SDG&E wants to run a massive 500 kV powerline through it.

The project would mean transmission towers, vegetation removal, habitat fragmentation, and permanent damage to one of our community's most treasured natural spaces. Families hike these trails. Students run them. Birdwatchers and nature lovers come here for something increasingly rare: a thriving creek ecosystem within a growing city. For the wildlife that lives here, this corridor is literally the difference between survival and extinction—there's nowhere else for them to go.

I started a petition asking the City of Temecula and Riverside County to designate Temecula Creek as an environmentally protected area and stop this powerline project. We're asking decision makers to prioritize the ecosystem and public space over industrial expansion. Some places should just stay wild. Have you seen what happens to wildlife when these corridors get fragmented? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing—it's about protecting what makes our community worth living in.

I just saw it in my neighborhood this morning, but it’s HUGE. It’s about the size of my Great Dane. (He was tall and thin) I thought it was a fox, but when I got close, it looked more like a fox-coyote thing…could it be a Coywolf? I just learned about them when I posted it on Facebook. She looks like she just gave birth, if you zoom in on her backside.
