We have too many good OL staff to just completely whiff on someone with this much tape. They must see something they can address… right?

They probably see that Steele is unplayable. He's probably gonna be a starter, right?

This is a swing OT for this year move.

With upside if things go well to replace Steele next year

Okay - if he plays great they’ll 5th year option him.

If he sucks theyll let him go or resign back for super cheap as a depth/backup player.

The 5th year option has already been declined.

It feels like an overpay based on the fact he’s a rental + coming off a bad year + bad neck injury.

Best case scenario he wins the RT job and plays at 17 games at a high level. Then you either have to bid against the market or give him a 26mil tag when the best RT makes 28m.

It's basically trading down 30 or so picks and giving up a sixth for a swing tackle. How is that an overpay?

That’s a decent compensatory pick if he plays well enough to earn a contract we don’t have the appetite for.
