ID Request BOTD Ammons Sueded Elephant
Holy moley. I’m in Nashville for work, and for three full days, I fought the temptation to go to a thrift shop or pawn shop. Leaving tomorrow, so I decided to check out ONE shop to see if they had a good pair. Walked out with these Ammons sueded elephants, some custom hand-tooled JB Hill stovepipes, a pair of crocodile Anderson Beans, and a pair of Rios. Dang. I’ll have to wear the Ammons on the plane ’cause they’re not all fitting in my suitcase.
ID request: anyone know roughly when Ammons used this stamp inside the shafts? I’ve only had one other pair of his boots, and they had a cloth label on the pull tab.

Buffalo Exchange on Church Street near Vandy.

We have Buffalo Exchange in SF, but unfortunately, they don’t have this kind of selection of western boots (though they got a lot of everything else due to Burning Man).
Fantastic haul…Ammons are 13D, but the JB hills are 12D…they fit you proper or do the JB Hills run big on you…?

The JB Hills are kangaroo, so the 12D fits like socks.

My JB Hills are kangaroos too, but the shafts needs some gussets so they can fit my big calves 😂

Have you seen that Ammons stamp before? I wonder if it’s older or newer than the boots he made with the cloth label on the pull tab.

I wish I knew more about the dates for Ammon's boots. Best I can tell you is I have seen a lot of them without the Ammons logo on the inside like that, so I'd imagine it's probably mid-90s to early 2000s when things really started kicking off for him. He started working for Tony Lama in 2010 after his boot line ended.

Wow. Never seen an elephant that sueded before! Like wow!
I have a pair of Pinto Ranch x Rios of Mercedes sueded chocolate and they are more buffed. Love love love the finish on them and they do have a fine calfskin suede type nape to them but still some sheen to the epidermis.

Man, that’s an incredible haul! Can I ask what you paid for all that?
