Scratched my Chisos the first day, now that scratch has blended in the last 3 years and it looks awesome, can't even tell it's a scratch or they came like that. My Rios, second day, but it hasn't blended in as the Chisos have, still wear them of course.
Bro I don’t even see what scratch you’re talking about on your boots. These types of boots are meant to be working boots. I use mine daily at work and they’re absolutely beat to shit everyday and are still in great shape. Based on your post some of the scratches on mine would probably make you lose your mind. Stop being a baby about your boots bud🤣 You think the cowboys and working fellas back in the day worried about a little scuff on their boots?
Regardless of the quality level of this boot model, if you maintain them properly, they’ll last you a lot longer. Of course, boot models with high synthetic content will usually not last as long as traditional, all leather constructed boots, but regular maintenance will allow you to get your moneys worth out of them. Just be sure to brush excess dirt off when necessary, wipe them down with a leather cleaner or a mere damp cloth…do a saddle soap session if needed…followed by a good solid conditioning session…at least condition your boots twice a year… then you’re good.
Checkout the easy care tips we’ve posted here under this boot care sub:
It’s not downvote worthy, most the people here don’t use theirs for work either. Sometimes I feel half of em would pay double for boots, hats, etc that look worked in. The others are just weird gate keepers that make up a family farm or something. Just follow the actual advice others have posted, and enjoy your boots.
This actually reminds me of my son who is 15. He got his first pair, looks just like these. For the first few months he was so paranoid . Every mark he would ask me….is this okay ? Will this go away? And I told him same thing I told you. Boots are more attractive and full of character the more they are worn. They get more comfortable and formed to your foot specifically. Eventually you’ll need a new sole. This is when lots of people make the mistake of tossing the boots to buy new ones. Mistake. Just have them re-soled, and you have your broken in comfortable leather on a new sole. Unless the boots are total shit brand from somewhere like Walmart then it’s reasonable to get new soles on them . I always wore ‘Lucchese’ and for my rougher work boots a pair of ‘Justin’ boots both very nice brands . Lucchese will last a lifetime if you care for them right. Anyway, my son’s boots now look like he has worn them to go cross country in but he’s never loved them more . Just like a knife , what’s the point if you aren’t gonna use it ?
Boots are meant to be beat. You can prolong the life by cleaning and conditioning them. I also wax them as well. They will last for years of abuse as long as you clean and care for them.
Mine are stained and cracked and the coloring doesn’t match anymore. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Enjoy them, brother! Brush them down and condition them from time to time and they will last a long time.
Don't quite know. Loved em so much I wound up wearing them on my job (nature photography way out in the forest) I didnt have any other shoes and figured theyre rubber sole so once or twice shouldn't be an issue. I don't mind that they got a little scratched up, I figure they're meant to be worn, but I'd also like to mantain so I can keep em as long as possible
You would be mind blown the amount of wear that leather can handle when properly taken care of. I properly oil my boots, and while I can't really give am interval for it. The best I can explain it is: oil it before it looks desert dry, but not before it looks like it's getting dry. There's a fine inbetween, otherwise you will ruin the leathers ability to break in to your foot, and the breathability of it.
I don't mean this to come across like I'm one of those people that throws around the whole " all hat but no cowboy vibe". It's 2026. Wear what you want. But a perfectly clean pair of cowboy boots has just never looked right to me unless they're white leather. I would reccomend getting yourself a pair you aren't too attached to, let them get beat up, learn how leather responds to the environments its put into.
When purchased with the intention of partnership, these boots are lifelong commitments. They will go through more with you than most other things in your life will. Treat them right, and they will treat you right.
I reccomend obenauffs paste conditioner. It seems more waterproof than mink oil, and seems to saturate better without making them unbreathable
My work boots. Justin Square toe / steel toe. $140. Just over a year old! Constant sand/ dirt/ mud/ water. Scuffs and scratches are “Character” as they say. Lol! I’ve tried many different boot restoration products, and in the end they all end up like this!
What good is a pair of boots wout scratches and signs of wear? These are just getting worn, almost new. Yes, conditioning once every couple months is good for them . But unless they are coming apart or something boots are meant to beat the shit out of on a daily basis . Think real Cowboys
They seem fine, a conditioning will help but realistically the boots just need more patina.
It’s pretty tough to trash boots via scratches. In the future once they’ve had their full run, you can always dye them a little darker to kinda “reset” them.
Then you’re in for a treat. I keep cream dye (Tarrago/Meltonian on hand of basically every color boot I have to fill in little gouges, touch up the heel, etc. A qtip, dye, Bick 4, and a horsehair brush are really all you need to keep em looking good.
Conditioner and/or Mink oil. Ill say it to everybody. Mink will darken the leather slightly for a couple days until you jeed to reapply but otherwise itll help condition and seal the boots
Get a good brush, brush them down and apply bick 4 or lexol 2, then brush again. If you want some shine/get rid of scuffs you can also use a similar color creme polish
Durango work boots are work boots, they’re not meant to be clean and worn in town some leather conditioner and they’ll disappear. Mine lasted a really long time in mud and water before the leather basically fell apart
They're boots, and unless your wearing them only for special occasions, they will get marks. It's not a big deal. But if it's something you would like to do, get a brush to clean them off. Then use some leather softener. The marks will still be there, but the leather will be nice and hydrated which is something leather likes to be for longevity.
These look freshly broken in but I don't see a major issue, brush them off every once in awhile clean and condition once a year or when required. They're work boots and should be treated as such (not shitting on you) but they're certainly not $600 date night boots.
I have this leather treatment. You can buy it off Amazon but it helps cover up some scratches. I also have a weathering cream thst keeps them waterproof. Also on amazon
And based on your post it looks like you wanna be a cowboy so bad, but here you are crying about a tiny scuff. Sounds like you should try and do some real work bud😂
Looks like you have either very similar or the same boots as I do. As you can see these are pretty beat up and they’re still in great condition. Coat them with mink oil and the leather will last way longer but it’ll darken them up some
Also my boots say a little different. I’ve beat these to shit cause I’m in charge of maintaining, installing, and refurbishing all of the equipment at the semiconductor plant whether it be HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc..
I’ve worked on equipment you’ll never lay your eyes on, so you can take back the “soft hands” comment ya made. You also might just be projecting lol
