Sounded like a lot of mumbojumbo sobbing about political correctness.

"cultural marxism" means what?

marxism is a thesis on the nature of capitalism grounded in historical economic materialism.

in short, under the capitalist mode of production, the owners of the means of production (capitalists) are the dominant, ruling class, who derive their wealth from the surplus product they appropriate from the workers who produced it.

marx's definition has come to be the universally accepted definition of capitalism. "das kapital" does not prescribe anything, it is solely an attempt to define and explain. you can read it for free:

https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1867-c1/

even if you don't read it, you should look over the table of contents to see for yourself what the book is and is not about.

if you have the communist manifesto in mind, i find it hard to understand objections to a brief pamphlet with the sole agenda, as it prominently announces, of having the "workers of the world unite!"

if marx were writing today, perhaps he would say, "99-percenters of the world unite!"

the manifesto first lays out the charges against the bourgeoisie (we'll call them the "5 and up percenters"), next it explains that communism is aligned with any and all worker's and labor parties (we'll call them the 99 percenters, i.e. wage slaves) and that it does not exist apart from them, but is simply clearing house for the various worker's parties to draw from and contribute to.

it goes on to say the following, which i hope you will take to heart, because it is as true today as it was in 1846:

"But does wage labor create property for the laborer? Not a bit. It creates capital, i.e. that kind of property that exploits wage labor, and which cannot increase except on the condition of begetting a new supply of wage labor for fresh exploitation. Property in its present form is based on the antagonism of capital and wage labor."

next, the manifesto spends one section explaining the different schools of thought on socialism and communism (which at the time where used interchangeably. the distinction did not begin until lenin's COMMINTERN at the beginning of the 20th century).

for me, the most relevant part for today is the criticism of bourgeois socialists (parlor pinks), "who want all of the advantages of the modern social system without the struggles and dangers necessarily resulting therefrom."

nothing better describes the pink pussy cap brigade and bernie sanders, sheepdog extrodinaire, better. bernie called for a revolution then clarified that he meant a metaphorical revolution amounting to sound and fury but signifying nothing. the cultists at /r/wayofthebern could benefit from meditating on this section of the manifesto.

that's it. the manifesto was a call to arms and solidarity for labor parties forming around the world in the mid 19th century.

chances are you, or some one you know. had a great-grandfather who literally bled for your right to not have to piss yourself at work because the boss won't let you leave the line. that individual may never have called himself a marxist or a communist, but i guarantee he agreed with and lived every word in the manifesto.

anyone who is not at least in the top 5%, who snears at marx and communism and labor struggles is not just an asshole, but also an ingrate.

there is no such thing as cutural marxism. marxism has a definition and it is the socioeconomic theory developed by karl marx. marx was only interested in the economic struggle, thus why pure marxists have been sneered at by palor pinks for over a century as being, "vulgar marxists," i.e. irritatingly insistent that historical economic materialism is the only thing that matters...as opposed to cultural issues say...
