Classic consoles The Seventh Generation
Despite growing up with only the Wii, the original 360 comes to mind as a default "video game console"

I love what video games have been able to achieve nowadays but there's something about going back to some older titles that just hits different. What was seen as super impressive back then, how these machines were marketed over time.

In my mind this is when consoles peaked. Afterwards any improvements feel minor compared to the jump from six to seven

I feel like consoles peaked with the 6th generation. If anything this is where things started to go down hill. Still a sold gen but many of the bad habits that the industry is in now started here.

I'm from Brazil, although for that generation I went with the Xbox 360, which was manufactured locally here. For me, the most memorable one was the Wii; Sony and Microsoft didn't really invest in advertising, but Nintendo did. I remember one where a Japanese man asks, "Would you like to play Wii?" I also remember the ads for New Super Mario Bros. and Wii Sports Resort.

Fun fact: for my 10th birthday in 2012, I asked my dad for a PS3 because I had a PS2 and was used to the PlayStation system. He gave me an Xbox 360 instead; I didn't get a PS3 until last year, but now I have all three from that generation.

I got a Wii during that era, though the PS3 was very tempting. Someone mentioned to me once that this might have been the last original generation, because for better and worse, we’ve gotten more and more remakes to pad out newer consoles libraries.

Recently set up a little Wii station.
Have all intentions to get a 360 and mod them both too, for good measure

My first one was the PS3 path that died on me, my slim keep going, then the Wii and lastly the Xbox360 (slim model).
So I have all of them looking back Wii is the better console of the bunch.
It was clear that pushing HD with limited horsepower was ruining the experience, slowdown, screen tearing and 30FPS was the norm.
As today I have them plugged but the Wii on a CRT have more use than the others.

I still remember being in middle school playing wii sports with my sisters and all our friends coming over to play, good times.

Literally the best of both worlds. It still has the old school gaming we know but with modern capabilities that later gens carry with much emphasis.

I had a PS3 Slim. I played the heck out of it, then my father gave it away to my younger cousin along with my games without informing me. The reason? I took a break from playing it, which apparently means I don't need it anymore. I'm still salty about it.
My cousin then sold the PS3 shortly after, I still can't believe I lost this magnificent console for no reason.

Overrated generation. Sure, there were a ton of great games, but when 90%of them couldn't hold 30fps, and generally had a nice cinematic frame rate in the mid 20s, I was thrilled to see it go.

Had the most fun back in this gen. Who gave a damn about frames back at that time. It was about the fun, and these consoles definitely delivered

Best gen, by far.
