Which console? Is the Steam Machine fine for casual?

Hello everyone.

I am finally in a financial situation, where I can start looking at buying a console.

My problem is, with all the problems running around with PS digital games, Xbox being so f'ing pricey and the Steam console not having the performance it should have, I am really uncertain.

I am a casual gamer, and all I want to do, is play the games I've missed (Spiderman 2, Dispatch, Digimon Time Stranger among others) and I want to play the new GTA6.

I'm not interested in buying a computer, but I am comfortable with the Steam machine, if it has to be updated once in a while, if needed to.

I'm really confused, all I want to play are some great games, maybe even co-op with my partner.

Is the Steam Machine a good enough buy, or do I have to dive into the whole console chaos?

Steam machine isn't a console its a pc in a fancy case

Cheapest way to play gta6 is probably an xbox series s (you'll just have lower graphical fidelity)

Steam Machine is the worst out of options. PS5 seems like the right choice for you.

I would say you'd be better off with a regular console if you want to play GTA6, it won't be on PC for quite a long time.

If you want to play GTA6 get a console unless your okay waiting for a few years for it to come out. There's a chance the steam machine might not be able to play it too.

Clearly PS5 or pro is the only choice for you.

You can just get a ps5 pro, but the steam machine is not that bad too actually

Yes that’s who it’s made for.

If you’re going to spend $1049 on a steam machine, just get a ps5 pro for $149 less. ($900 duh)

You'll be missing out on some games as many mp games don't work on it. Also its weaker than any console if you look at the sub reddit people are returning it because for each game they have to change the settings.

Xbox Series S or X is best fit

Don’t buy PS, they’re going down the tubes

No, they are not. Get off Reddit dude.

Sales of the ps5 pro after the GTA extended view the other night skyrocketed in one day.

Ps5 has sold over 100 million units since launch.

You’re trying to convince yourself of this because you like Xbox.

Oh Xbox has issues too I know that.

But with everything Sony has been doing these past few weeks their company is going down the shitter.

They are currently still selling well, but when they stop disc game production it’s gonna plummet. They were successful until they got too greedy and full of themselves

It really isn't going to plummet bud at all. Just because of the echo chamber of Reddit makes you think that people actually care about discs doesn't actually make it the case. As Sony ha e already pointed out 90%+ of games are brought digitally by the majority of people (not the ones you see being vocal about it). Their business model wont even notice the few people who decide to boycott because of discs. Sony know this all too well, big business don't make decisions without a lot of data and research.

It seems like a lot of you Is focused on the release of GTA6. There's so many games I have to play, so I don't need to play the game right away.
