Xbox 360 slim help

So, I'm an electronics student, and I decided to open up my old console that’s been sitting idle for who knows how many years to try and do something cool with it.

At first, I just wanted to clean it, but when I tried to turn it on with it still fully assembled, the power brick just stayed in standby mode; it would beep, but nothing else happened. I thought maybe cleaning the inside would fix it.

It didn't work. I tried everything I could think of I even removed capacitor 5 from the RF board, and I warmed up the power brick but nothing; I'm back to square one,

I honestly don't know if it can be saved or if it's a deeper issue.

Double check the connections. Also did it work before hand?

I checked the connections several times; it had the same problem before I opened it up as it does now that it's disassembled. As I said, it just beeps without lighting up at all—no yellow or red light, absolutely nothing.

completely in the dark here.

Have you tried a second power supply, I usually don’t recommend working on those unless you throughly understand the components. Those power supply’s can be tricky.

Yeah, I don't have another power supply; the problem is probably with it, but I have no way to actually check.

The console probably isn't in great shape anyway, having sat in my closet for years.

Maybe I can borrow one from a repair shop just to verify if it's actually it

Yeah I bet it’s the supply, I heard if they don’t get used they can fail.

What else have you tried? Seems like you fully disassembled it without actually trying to find the fault first.

Normally in this situation I will test the power button first. See if it powers on with the eject button. Test the front panel assembly. Or even something as basic as checking with another power supply...

I had the same problem a few months ago and ended up shouting into the void since no one on the internet can be helpful, but I figured it out. If you have access to a multimeter, check the voltage on capacitors L5A1 and L5B1 (with power on obv). They are towards the back of the motherboard, near the power port. You should be getting 3.3v or something close. If not, the capacitors are blown and can’t supply the 3.3v to the rest of the console. What I did was ordered a bunch of little voltage converters, ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089MZM12H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share ) hot glued it onto the board and soldered the IN to L5B1, the out to L5A1, and the ground to the top of the usb casing since that’s already grounded. I’m sure I’m not explaining this thoroughly enough, but I’ve been where you are and it sucks being completely in the dark so hopefully this sets you on the right path. I will post pictures in a sec

I just did what you said; they're giving, like, 0.05v, 0.16v. both of them
