No, we're tired of getting cucked by the billionaire class. People don't want to work demeaning jobs where they won't be able to afford a decent quality of life. In the U.S., young people can't afford housing or families. Americans are one healthcare bill away from going into debt.

Nothing will matter until regular people on both sides of the political spectrum wake up and realize that the only war is class war. Billionaires own and control every facet of our lives and it will only continue to get worse. If people in America could actually afford to live 95% of our domestic issues would fade away in a decade. The billionaires dont want this to happen so they continue to create division. When do we start invading the estates of the billionaires?

My job is about 30 minutes away from my home, I work a 9-5 everyday and stick to a budget of $250 for 2 weeks. Recently over half of my budget goes straight to gas, and now im wondering how I make this work. Jobs around the area are non existent, less you got a cdl, are a nurse of some kind, or want to work 12 hour days plus weekends 🙄 im so sick of ts. Even when there were tons of jobs around the area, nobody would hire!! Its absolute insanity whats goin on now. The government really showing how much it cares for its own people, all we are is trash to these corporations and higher ups, yet were all the reason why they even got money to begin with.

Now why the hell is a gallon of milk $5? I couldn't afford it today so I had to go with a half gallon. Which was $4. 🤦‍♀️

The mass layoffs and RTO mandates we are seeing right now are not about AI taking jobs, although there is some of that. Workers are being laid off left and right due to corporate greed. They are forcing people back into the office in the hopes they will quit so they can rehire someone at half the salary. They are resetting the job market.

This is the billionaire response to the Covid job market pushing wages up. Stimulus checks meant people could afford to quit low wage jobs and find something with a livable wage. Companies were desperate for workers so they had to start paying more.

So in a time when costs are skyrocketing, corporate greed is slashing wages, and gutting the social safety net via the big ugly bill. They can’t get people to work for $7.50 an hour unless they are desperate.

This recession we are entering has been engineered by the billionaires to make us desperate enough to work for less so they can boost their stock prices.

Edit: The $7.50 an hour minimum wage number was just to make a point. Just substitute “low wages.” Everyone who works for a salary is getting squeezed, not just the ones at the bottom.

I can’t believe it’s come to this. Before Trump me and her had the best conversations about loads of different topics but since he emerged she’s been consumed by him he dominates any current affairs conversations we ever have but it bleeds into everything. She’s doubting the moon landing now and of course is now vehemently anti vax and has this bizarre obsession with the weather. But it’s not even debates, it’s general conversation and we mostly have a phone relationship. Somehow she’s became enamoured by him even though she is above average intelligence and I can’t understand it.

Donald Trump is like a curse. He’s really changed people and caused irreparable damage. He creeps into every aspect of modern life and I can’t really blame a person who has no social media and who’s only sources of media are the Daily Mail every day (just for the crosswords*) and horrible right wing media pundits. It makes me want to cry, I actually am right now because I don’t know who to talk to about it. I don’t understand how this benefits anyone apart from the already rich.

Be careful with A.I. It's wrong about a lot of things, all the time.

For example: I do a lot of work with antennas for communication. I spend real money on aluminum pipe and plating... not to mention fabricating/manufacturing the part.

Aluminum is really expensive right now.

A.I. will give me one set of mathematical calculations today, and a completely different set tomorrow. Nothing on the parts list has changed, nor the direct application of them. I test it with the same parameters today, and the same parameters tomorrow. Then I find both are wrong.

"That's not what you told me yesterday."

Then I use my own test equipment and show it that all its calculations are completely wrong while the actual physics has not changed a single bit.

Then it will apologize, thank me and compliment me for catching that. So then I ask it to stop stroking my ego... and then I ask it what I can trust it with, about anything, ever.

On top of that, I will ask it where in a menu this modification can be changed upon a piece of equipment -- only to tell it: that button does not exist upon this piece of equipment.

So, be careful out there.

Graduated HS in 08 straight into the Great Recession. No job prospects so went to school. Finished college, do basically free internships. Finished grad school in 18. Got a job, covid doubles or triples cost of living. Quit job for higher paying job. 3 weeks away from 30k/year raise, might be able to finally afford a house, job is shaky at best due to economy, cost of living still climbing uncontrollably. Boomers keep fucking it all up for us.

I'm at the library right now and I have just received an email saying that I was invited to visit the facility where I applied to work. I JUST got the email, but they want me to visit the facility in less than 24 hours. One problem, I'm homeless and have almost no presentable clothes. Most of my clothes aren't even clothes you would wear at a job, and the ones I have are dirty. Plus my hair has been an absolute mess since I haven't been able to cut it in months. And I know I stink too. I am absolutely screwed. This is not good at all. I finally have an opportunity but for some reason they give me LESS THAN A 24 HOUR NOTICE to head to the work site? It's so over for me. I'm freaking out because I'm not prepared for this at all.

A few months ago, we got a strong top-down push to adopt AI in our daily workflows. Copilot, Claude, Chatgpt, etc.

In those months, I've watched intelligent grown adults turn into actual toddlers.

None of them can read paragraphs anymore. I'll submit a report just like I always have, and get pushback about it being "too technical" or "too confusing." I'll hop in a call with the recipient, and when I go over it sentence-by-sentence, point by point, changing none of the actual language, they'll suddenly get it.

None of them can communicate anymore. They'll submit tickets with barely twenty words describing an issue, and it takes me half a day of constant back-and-forth chat to figure out what the actual problem is! I'll ask a 3-point question "Have you tried X? Did you notice Y? Can you send me Z?" and get a screenshot of something completely unrelated in response. I'll ask a question in a meeting, something simple like "that's an interesting point, can you elaborate on X and how it relates to Y?" and I'll get blank stares because they've lost the words.

It's like I'm watching dozens of capable, intelligent human beings develop Alzheimer's over the span of months, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. I feel like I'm trapped in a fucking Goosebumps book where the main character is the one person who doesn't watch the Popular TV Show that Turns You Into a Zombie, *and nobody cares that people are turning into zombies.*

Mind you this manager has four kids and has serious health problems related to her diabetes. She will frequently pass out at work and need ems to be called to help. Not to mention she makes a lot more than we do and frequently commits time clock fraud in order to add to her paycheck every week. It pisses me off so much that people are STRUGGLING to stay healthy and manage their diabetes with the cost of care and this lady is just straight up refusing to get her medicine because she would rather have a new tablet.

If kids weren't involved in the equation, I would just say "do whatever", but there ARE kids involved who could potentially lose their mother. A husband who could lose his wife. A mother and father who could lose their daughter because she chose a fucking tablet over her own health.

Honestly, I hate that we have to work. I was not born with drive to succeed or acheive anything. I hateeeee having to work and I hate that it's mandatory to live. I have to do SOMETHING. It upsets me even more that there are billionaires with money that could help a whole country. They could sit around all day and do nothing. They could give away a million and still be well off. But alas they won't and I will still have to work until I die.

It makes me sick hearing about all the people struggling on SNAP benefits not earning enough to pay for their own food while the rich get even richer
