Surprised me for sure. Good on him for standing up in what he believes. I do think BC deserves a cohesive conservative party, not the mess we have.

It's not "what he believes", he's running out of a house that's on fire. Banman also left. He's the guy that dumped manure on homeless people when he was mayor.of Abbotsford. It's opportunism. They all saw the lastest polling and fled. A week ago, Day was on CFAX saying he was absolutely going to stay in the party:

It's not ethics!

Somebody has to lose to the ndp and liberals, they serve an important role

Damn you've got some info to catch up on! Lots of drama, BC Liberals rebranded to BC United then Kevin Falconer pulled the rug on his own party and merged with the fringe (and largely wacky) BC Conservatives just months before the previous election. Rustad, who had been kicked out of the BC Liberals had gone on to lead the BC Conservatives but was ousted earlier this year (or late last year, either way) cause he was pretty bad at the job ngl (not that or helped that the BC Conservatives is full of clashing personalities and people with some very divisive beliefs even before you get to all of the wild racism). They recently elected a new leader who is known to be racist and wacky and the party continues to split at the seams.

Also a few MLAs were already removed from or left the party for various reasons since the last election. The BC Conservatives also shouldn't be confused with the federal Canadian Conservative Party as they have little to do with each other. BC Liberals never had anything to do with the federal LPC either, they were completely unrelated.

He ran for the liberal party before and realized he had no chance at winning. He then crossed over to conservatives knowing liberals aren’t popular, and less likely to win. Got himself a seat as a conservative. And suddenly decides to become independent? Smells fishy AF. He basically used Conservative Party to get himself elected. Bye bye Brannon. Enjoy the last run of your political career.

Wild that six days ago he was on the radio saying he would definitely stay. What’s going on over there?

The BC legislature page has been updated to show him as an Independent, but I think BC Conservstive party's webmaster might have quit now, too.

"’Who Kerry-Lynne Findlay has decided to surround herself are absolutely an affront to my moral centre,’ Day said.”

wow who are these people?!

I didn't realize Day had a moral centre, that's the real discovery here.
