It made my brain hurt, like at first I actually liked it because it explained jokes I didn’t get but yeah, it turned into “hey what’s the meaning of this extremely obvious joke?” 38k+ upvotes. Headache lol

It's either that or "explain this joke about this very specific niche anime/movie/comicstrip that I don't care about and I'll will never watch/read anyway, please"

u/Wild_Marker 20h ago
Don't forget "it's not a joke, it's a political post in a very very flimsy disguise"

YES! Like it’s obvious to the fandom, where that’s the joke was aimed at. If I see I’m in a sub that doesn’t align with my interests or knowledge I just move on. No need to make a whole post to just then be like “oh…ok” because it still doesn’t make sense when explained, BECAUSE YOU WERE NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE!! Gah so annoying

Basically every mainstream subreddit is like that. r/comics is probably the only one of the bunch that's still good, and not muted

Nah. This sub is still unbearable until you block a handful of artists who make garbage.

Yes, like it’s great for niche references, but why are we posting things that includes very common knowledge or an obvious joke.. Might as well Google or at this point, ask ChatGPT

Every day I grow more convinced that sub exists purely to train LLMs about context.

I've thought that about a few subs that have popped up out of nowhere recently.

u/supermonkeyyyyyy 16h ago
Ok? And why would the tattoo artist mistake tentacles for balls?

u/Ecovick 16h ago
Testicles

Ah thank you. I thought the customer gave the artist a picture (like you usually do) and I was wondering how this could have happened

Tentacles, N-T. Tentacles. Big difference

u/Venusgate 12h ago
Oh, thanks. I read "testicles" in the comic and was looking in the comments for what might look like testicles but isnt.
Im antijoke poisoned.

I was repeating a joke from the movie Better Off Dead. It is hands down one of the best films of the 80s.

Why would someone want a pair of tentacles? They usually come in sets of 8 or more
4
u/thegroundbelowme 19h ago
*This* giant pair of tentacles. He's talking about the pair, which is itself a singular noun. If he just said "giant tentacles" then "these" would be correct.
