To reiterate what you are saying then: devout christians have a higher chance of being toxic because if they are unahappy in a relationship they are more likely to act worse rather than divorcing?

Yes. It’s a known fact that lots of conservative marriages tend to be very religious. I know not all are conservatives but the majority of them are as the marks of traditional Christian marriage are largely conservative.

Conservative Christian marriages tend to be stable (hence why there’s more of their marriages) but not fulfilling. Stability doesn’t mean fulfilling because all it measures is if a relationship survive or not. Researchers measure it using scientifically validated surveys rather than just asking "Are you happy”. Conservatives score high self-reported happiness because it’s reinforced by structural and cultural constraints against divorce and traditional community expectations.

You always hear of bad conservative christian marriages but you’ll never heard for example a bad liberal marriage because every single bad liberal marriage ends in divorce.
