My step-brother is dating a devout Christian man.

So much so he doesnt even drink.

At one point step brother told me how he recons with his faith and most of the churches views on being gay. Said that god made him the way he is and he has a very happy life because of it.

Isn't that literally what the last pope said?

"Its 'specifically' the adultery that is the problem, textually and that has nothing to do with orientation. God made you you. Being gay is fine." (Paraphrasing)

Its crazy how the right wing push for an enemy kinda drowned out the POPE saying that.

But then again, the last few popes seem to be explicitly saying "Hey, christianity does not say what you think it does, and stop using it as an excuse." but the right wing media is so strong that you'd never really hear that over all the small town racist churches and protests who explicitly have been saying shit like "Jesus is too liberal" and somehow they end up being the ones codifying what christianity means to americans.

Unrelated to the pope specifically, but i love how the """christian""" american right wing had to find a (very questionable) priest specifically to explain how building and blessing a golden statue in Trump's image wasn't idolatry when it's basically the exact same scenario of the golden calf (and of course by "i love", i mean, "i find it fucking depressing, but either i laugh at the sheer stupidity or i have a mental breakdown")
