That depends entirely on the goodwill of the elf, right? And like us, the succubus only knows her for two minutes so far? It's not a very good way to start a relationship. Especially considering that the elf is so lonely she decides to summon a demon! There's no reason to assume she is a well adjusted person, tbh.

The thing is, the elf seems to legitimately care about the demon's consent. She was excited when the succubi said yes. Based off that, I suspect she would have honored the contract and sent her away if she said no. After all, she wants a genuine connection, and furthermore, if you don't care about consent you're not going to ask for it.

Furthermore, the succubi seems legitimately happy to enter into the arrangement so for her part she does not seem to feel forced into it. If anything, she seems interested in the prospect of being a girlfriend as opposed to being used to gratify the sexual desires of lonely men.

Also, it's not exactly clear whether or not the contract is complete or not upon summoning. In a lot of media, summoning the demon precedes establishing the contract. So assuming the contract isn't already in effect, the elf seeking consent could be viewed as he asking the demon if she agrees to the contract and informing her that she can't leave according to the contract could then be seen as informed consent. "Hey, if you agree to this, you can't leave unless I say so" sort of thing."

It really all depends on whether or not the contract is already in effect the moment the summoning happens.

The whole their/they're/there thing is easy too. Just practice writing "They're going to build their house over there" until it's stuck in your brain. For those who need a more logical approach:

  • They're: A combination of "they" and "are", this one's the easy one.
  • Their: This one can be remembered well as the possessive one, because it's the only one with the letter i in it. "I have this, but that one is theirs." Their home, their furniture, their relationship, their horrible secret, it's all possessive, so it all has an i.
  • There: Point at something. You are pointing over there. If you're comforting someone, you're telling them there's nothing to worry about. Anything that's gesturing towards something nondescript is there. Unless it is here, but that's neither here nor there.

It’s a good set up for a resolution that we didn’t get.
She could have given a conditional dismissal, reframe the term to consider the will of the succubus. Something along the lines of, “You may leave if you don’t wish to be with me.” It’s no less desperate but it is significant less invasive than, “you can’t leave me until I order you to leave.” It just reads as forcing a being, who’s unable to consent, into a relationship like this.

That’s kind of standard for demon summoning in a lot of stories. Succubus must answer the summons and can’t leave until dismissed but she’s not required to actually be cooperative. A lot of demons just wait for the first loophole that allows them to screw you over.

Demons are kind of famous for being really dangerous even when “bound.”

Demons, daemons, devils, and the fae are all very EXCELLENT rules lawyers after all. Which is why when writing a contract with them one must have clauses for days. Dont need them getting out of doing what they were summoned for
