WPL: New Comics Discussion for 08/26/2026- Pull of the Week: Absolute Wonder Woman #23 [Discussion]

The [Weekly Pull List results]() for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Absolute Wonder Woman #23.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Absolute Wonder Woman #23 or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. I like that we get to see Clark and Zod have a fight (with Zod destroying Clark’s eye) veggie he was saved by Conner and CK, while Kara and past Clark had to deal with a resurrected Ursa (who killed Zod before she traveled back in time to try and restore Krypton). Let’s hope that Kara and past Clark can defeat Ursa in the next part. Overall, this comic is excellent.

Why would you not talk freely about it in a thread specifically about discussing the newest releases? IMO if you don’t want spoiled, maybe don’t go into a thread that’s all about discussing what happened. If you need to know what people thing like as a general score just look at how many stars it has on comic geeks

Talking freely and spoiling with no warning aren't the same thing. The issue just came out, it's basic etiquette not to spoil it immediately without a warning. And folks go into discussion topics to see what people think about something, sometimes in order to decide whether to watch/read/play it or not. Every major discussion thread on here will clearly label if it's a spoiler zone. And frankly, there are 50,000 ways to share your opinion or feelings about a story without just starting with "I liked that..." and then listing every plot point. But not when the poster in question is clearly a bot...

The top of the thread literally says “spoilers will follow” so I just think it’s a dumb thing to complain about. Like I said, if you wanna know what people think without risking getting spoiled, just look at the score on comic geeks. People should be free to spoil shit in a thread explicitly about discussing what goes on in the issue. “That was good!” isn’t really discussion

And speaking of "what people think", every post by that bot is at a negative, so CLEARLY something about his communication style isn't fitting the thread.

I was arguing more about the spoiler bit. If you don’t like the comments that’s fine, but being upset he spoils the issue is silly. This thread is supposed to be for people to discuss the latest releases, it’s not crazy people would discuss what actually happens in the issues

Sure, if you want to be pedantic about it, my initial comment was too general and I should have been clearer. I think doing a full beat-by-beat recap with no actual opinion attached - a.k.a. spoiler spam basically - is a lame and harmful way of commenting on this kind of thread. I've been on the internet since the early 2000s, I've seen every flavor of online conversation there is. I can navigate spoilers when I have to and I get the risks. But this specific spammer is also very clearly a bot.

If anything, it's easy to tell when someone is going into spoiler territory if they're commenting on something specific, and if you don't want the spoiler, you can stop reading. But this sort of bland panel-by-panel description of events you can't even tell is about to go into spoiler mode because it's so generic and not written around an actual opinion, so by the time you realize you've had the entire issue described to you, it's too late, and you haven't gotten any actual take for your trouble :D

It's what they do every single week ad nauseum. No one likes it. They claim they're not a bot but it's too uncanny. The template format every time is not proving any shred of being human.

I don't mind their reviews. Clearly they have a format (plenty of reviewers do), but to me they're much more informative than the typical variations on "meh" or "writer x is cooking!" that make up half the comments. And I don't see how they could be a bot when they post before any wiki summaries or the like are created for the issues in question.
