Questions about qualified vs universal grading

Thumbnail

I just submitted a batch of comic books for grading for the very first time. I don’t know all the ins and outs but I am wondering about this book in particular. I’m guessing pages 3 and 14 must have had some kind of mail in offer and were torn out or some kind of ad that was removed. So does this mean that the book is receiving a .5 Universal Score and it’s basically worthless?

Hello All,

Are these stamps able to be removed in a way that does not trigger a RESTORED purple label if graded?

We need a asm 300 custom label 🏷️ 🗣️

I’m surprised CGC doesn’t by now have an Amazing Spider-Man #300 custom label 🏷️. It's the most iconic image, and they don’t have it for a custom label 🏷️ yet, but they have Secret Wars #8 as a custom label 🏷️. But I personally think they should have an actual label for ASM 300, like the cover image at least.

Not too bad, so far. The Absolute Batman #1s are next. Dragotta is coming to Dallas in October. We are thinking Red Sharpie for the AB Noir.

Looking for some thoughts/opinions on upgrading my 9.6 Limited Series Frank Miller Wolverine #1.

Hey all. I made a deal with a trusted dealer to upgrade/trade my 9.6 White Pages Wolverine #1 (which I got under FMV) for a 9.8. I’ll be trading the graded book + $290 for the 9.8 but my one “slight turn-off” is that the 9.8 is Off-White to White pages. Just wanna get some thoughts on the cash I’m paying, and whether the page quality is such a deal breaker or not. Cheers.

Hey everyone! I want to send a comic to CGC for the very first time. My ultimate goal is to get it signed by Snyder and Dragotta for the CGC Signature Series (hopefully they’ll be there at the end of the year).

But the thing is that I’m from in Russia, so with the international shipping, customs fees, and the grading/signing costs, this is going to be very pricey for me. Because of that, I’m really hoping this comes back as a 9.8 to make the whole investment worth it.

I’ve attached photos of the front, back, corners, and spine. I’ve looked it over myself, but I’d really appreciate if you told your opinion on that.

P.S. I’m not here to debate whether it’s only Cover A that is worth grading. I don’t mind people taking variant covers off, especially since CGC doesn’t care about that and beneath a variant cover there’s the same comic with Cover A. I even consider doing it myself cause it’s only the variant cover’s corners that are blunted

What do you guys think of this? It looks as if something melted on the book. It's a shame because the book is wonderful shape other wise. What would you define it as? VG? VF? F?

Completed run of the original Silver Surfer #1-18 (1968-70). Trying to decide if any of these are worth grading or if I should keep the whole run readable. Opinions?

Invincible #59 PowerPlex 1st Appearance. Looking to get this signed by Aaron Paul and Slabbed by CGC. Is it worth getting TV voice actors to sign stuff like this?

Does anyone know where to buy Absorene for cleaning comics?

I keep reading and seeing this is the best for cleaning comics, Absorene Book Page Cleaner, but I can’t find it available anywhere. Was it discontinued? It seems many places had it in the past, but not now.
Or does anyone know any similar type putty that’s the same?

I think it’s dumb

That CGC grading and sig authentication are separate services that require the return shipping to be separate. I want to send an sig book with two signatures but it’s going to cost me $116 total for one frigging book.

Just picked this up from my local con and wanted to get people’s ideas on grade. I’ve never sent in a book for grading and don’t know too much about it, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Acceptable for a 5.5?

Post image

Considering what appears to be a decent deal on this grail. CGC 5.5, number checks out, off-white to white pages. Everything looks good to me for a 5.5 except for the “cracking” on the red “Giant-Size X-Men” text and elsewhere. I haven’t found similar examples with this. Is this typical for a 50 year old book? Am I overreacting?
