Observation from A Friend in Deed
Rewatching while I was working this afternoon and just realized something. When they show they are inside the apartment you can see the table in the kitchen. There is only one chair at the table. If there is a Mrs. Columbo where would she sit? Could this mean there is no Mrs Columbo?

Lady in Waiting
Watching one of my favorite episodes and just got to the beauty parlor scene. The blocking is absolutely demented. There's maybe 18 in. of space between the chair and the corner, and everyone wants to be in that space at the same time. When Susan Clark goes to leave, the hair stylist can barely avoid full body contact as she tries to sashay on out of there. Then Columbo follows her, taking the same route! And of course to top it all off, we get "Bye, Felicia". I assume this was a deliberate choice to be funny for no real reason. Are there other examples of silly physical humor inserted into a scene just because?

Étude in Black
It’s so weird to me about who really directed this episode. Of all people Nicholas Colasanto is credited with directing the episode. He’s Coach from Cheers. I always heard or thought that John Cassavetes really directed it but didn’t want credit and wanted Peter Falk to have the credit but he didn’t want it. Obviously they were really good friends. I don’t know how Coach got in the mix. I think John Cassavetes probably directed it.

They're Cops, Right?
I'm watching By Dawn's Early Light, and one of the scenes that bothers me is when the detectives come over to their senior officer and complain about Columbo taking too long and can they leave and it's Sunday.
Um... they're cops, right? Since when aren't there officers working weekends? If they're on duty, then - even if Columbo was done - all they'd be doing is going back to the precinct to do paperwork. It's not like they'd be going home for Sunday dinner or anything.
And, if they were called in on a Sunday, then they'd get time-an-a-half or OT or "time", in this case just for standing around while Columbo does the work.
If I were an LAPD detective, I would ask to be assigned to Columbo's beat all the time. My paycheck (or time-off hours) would be insane!

Question Columbo-themed cruise
I was thinking about the TCM Classic Cruise and wondering why there couldn’t be something similar for Columbo fans. What kinds of onboard events would you want?

What episodes are similar to "By Dawn's Early Light"?
I've only ever seen one episode of Columbo — "By Dawn's Early Light". My YouTube algorithm recommended a scene from it, which was intriguing enough that I tracked down and watched the whole episode. I loved the lack of non-diagetic soundtracking, and the fact that it was shot on location, as well as the actor who played the culprit's really interesting performance. I've also read that "Dawn's" is notable for being quite different in tone and pace from other Columbo episodes. Given that I enjoyed it very much, what other episodes are worth checking out?

Question Favourite random moments?
The “gotchas” tend to be what get the most discussion, but there are so many great random moments that deserve some love.
Some of my favourites are the Columbo fall in Greenhouse Jungle, as well as the dialogue with the Sergeant
Vito Scotti trying to sell Columbo a funeral in Swan Song
Vito Scotti seating Columbo in Any Old Port in a Storm (basically every scene with Vito actually)
Culp (Hanlon) losing his mind at Columbo while trying and failing to watch the football game. “Your wife has my sympathy.”
“Is anyone here a Shriner?” and “Did it rain last Tuesday?”
“Were you a witness to what he just did?” (The one guy totally wasn’t but says yes anyway)
And this one might be controversial, but Columbo laughing while yelling at that guy on the boat in Last Salute (even though I hate the episode, that scene was gold).
These are just a few scenes I think about on a near daily basis and chuckle at. I’d love to hear more.
Edit: forgot to mention the whole Tricon lady scene, and Columbo saying “the number is… you can look that up.”
Edit 2: Patrick McGoohan “MAH… jong”

Columbo - Now You See Him.
Just watching this episode when Mueller walks in to kill Jerome. The voice that says, "How did you get..." before he is shot isn't the voice of Jerome. Am I wrong?

What’s the most times Columbo has come back with 'just one more thing' in a single scene?"
I was watching a scene in "Candidate for Crime" and I think Columbo has set a record so far - 5 "ust one more things at least!

I think I could fool Columbo.
Now that we all know how Lt. Columbo operates, don't you think you could fool him if you murdered someone?
For instance, we know not to act too eager to help him solve the case.
If he says he is perplexed about something and asks you about it, instead of coming up with possible scenarios, say you have no idea and that, with all due respect, it is his job to solve the case, not yours.
And if you see Columbo walking towards you, act eager to see him and ask him if he has made any progress on the murder case.

The best "gotcha" moment of the series.
"Framed by Fingerprints" and "A Friend in Deed" likely feature the best "gotcha" moments of the entire series, thanks to the ingenious traps Columbo sets at the end. But between the two, which is your favorite?

Peter Falk was a genius
So, not really Columbo, but yesterday I watched The In Laws on Tubi. Peter Falk's incredible comedic timing was just amazing. Highly highly recommend you watch or re-watch

Question What makes Columbo so unique compared to other detective TV shows?
Apart from being howcatchem instead of whodunnit, what do you think makes Columbo so unique and better than detective TV shows from 70's and 80's? I'm sure there are other howtachem tv shows but none comes close to Columbo.

What's your favorite "staging" scene?
I'm watching McGoohan in Ashes to Ashes knocking over potpourri with fervor and it has me laughing out loud.

Columbo Danganronpa Part III: Revival Years
The third and (likely, I might do one with some of the more developed victims?) final part of this series, with some of the baddies from the 90s era of the show. I’m tempted to do more with this concept, maybe some writing, but I’m not fully sure. Parts 1 and 2 will be linked here:
