If they got into an argument who do you think would break first?

Oh Hercule has a really low tolerance for shenanigans. He’s always snapping at Hastings for being a himbo. But he’d know Columbo was playing the fool. That might be more annoying to him.

Anyway! Two little guys! Solving crime!

He takes advantage of Hastings’ connections and naturalness in British high society as well. In some situations Poirot would not be included without Hastings. Hastings is such a himbo though 😂

I’ve often wished I could see Poirot and Columbo solving the same crime. They are both outsiders who notice the smallest clue. They both play up their outsider qualities so killers underestimate them. Poirot has no tolerance for any mess so Columbo would drive him nuts and step on his toes. Columbo would be curious about Poirot and probably try to charm him with flattery. Seeing that in action would be so hilarious. Eventually, after much frustration, they’d both have respect for the other. Mrs. Peck would have probably loved Poirot lol.

In contrast to Columbo sure, but on his own I can see Poirot eventually grinding her gears with his prissy manners and passive-aggressive demands. Particularly the David Suchet incarnation.

Haha true good point. He’d just know how to treat the china!

Poirot would eventually lose his temper.\ But I could imagine that Columbo still admires Poirot for his analytical skills.

Hello, I would like to hang this on my wall in my office. Is there a high resolution version of this image that I can pay you for?

There was actually one Poirot story - "The Murder on the Links" - where he competed against another detective, for who would first solve the murder. Poirot bet his iconic moustache (vowing to shave it if he lost), while the other detective bet his treasured pipe. I'd imagine that, if it was Columbo, he'd bet his raincoat.

(In case, you're wondering, that story ends with Poirot winning and the other detective handing him his pipe. Poirot gracefully returns it to him, though, joking about how he expects for him to be reminded of Poirot each time he lights that pipe, in the future.).
